I have a Mathis electric tiller that I bought over 35 years ago and it still works as good today as it did the day I bought it, hard to get anything today with that kind of quality today

Nice! You have to buy high end quality brands from a dealership these days. I now have 4 different pieces of high end quality equipment from this same dealer and have zero problems with any of it. I have a Stihl fs 90r, a the mantis in this video, a snapper zero turn mower and a Stihl battery powered blower.

👍Workhorse of a machine. I bought the 4 cycle Mantis and the aerator tines. I worked the soil a bit then 'slit' seeded lawn last fall. Super impressive! Yes, it's a good idea to empty the fuel tank but also allow machine to run OUT of gas as well. Ensuring nothing inside fuel system over winter months. I'm not a fan of the fuel additives to keep it fresh. Same w/ my mowers and such. But that's just me. 👍Good video. Thx ✌️

It makes all the sense to buy a two cycle engine if you have another. The maintenance is less. There are no oil changes. The engine is more powerful than a comparable four stroke engine. They emit less oxides of nitrogen and C02 than a comparable four stroke engine but more emissions in non-combusted hydro carbons. Albeit, the noise is higher.

Ok I noticed in your first video that you had the blade on till side and in the second on the cultivate side. So did you notice a differrence in the cut and on which side should it be placed. I ask as Ive never tried the edger on mine just always the weed trimmer as an edger. Good advice though on pulling it in reverse on the edger. Same way I use it when tilling.

yes350yes Yes, but I just thought maybe the blade was getting dull. It did work better the first time. I'll try it like I did in the first video the next time I edge. Thanks for noticing and watching.

I disconnected the throttle stop switch....too awkward off or starting and certain situations...also I put a spring loaded stop switch...

Sounds like an improvement. At least I got the updated model where they had moved the kill switch. Thanks for watching.

I noticed there is now guide for the edge of the concrete. How do you know if you’re getting close to the concrete?
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 4 жыл бұрын
The blade rides right along side of the concrete.

Can you turn an edger into a tiller by adding the blade?
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 3 жыл бұрын
It's actually a tiller than can also do edging.

Those mantis have Echo engines. Echo in my opinion is much better than Sthil or Husqvarna.

at 11:28 are those ski doo carbide marks i see???? kiddin ,,good video,,yeah did you already do a ski doo summerization if not make a video please.
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are ski doo carbide marks. lol. I did a summerization video a couple of years ago at Gary's house. I had already summerized my sled but didn't make a video of it so I made the video at Gary's house since he had 2 e-tecs. If I remember correctly he had about five sleds at the time. He always keeps a few extra on hand. lol. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poa5n3asrrGfqZI

can you use that along the edge of your rock driveway? Ive been looking for a solution to keep the grass from growing into the rocks.
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 5 жыл бұрын
You could but I would establish a sharp edge to follow first so as to not bend and wear the tines. Maybe use a spade initially or start out really slow with the edger.

Tillers/cultivators weren't designed for this job. Their blades don't rotate fast enough to make smooth cut. It is okay, but definitely not great.
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 5 жыл бұрын
Do you own one of these?

A slow rotation is what I am looking for so that I can edge next to cars and house siding and windows without flinging damaging stones.
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 4 жыл бұрын
This machine edges so well and clean. I haven't had to edge any rocked areas but the cutter only spins as fast as you let it with the throttle. Blades are sharp and as fast or slow as you want.

Nice video but that job appears to be far better suited for a weedeater.

This does a far better job than a weedeater.

@@Paisteboy I have one. My experience though is that with quality line turned vertically I have that grass cut perfectly in 5 minutes and with all the grass cut the first try. For the same reason the professionals don't use edgers and instead use weedeaters.
@Paisteboy
@Paisteboy 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. For weekly maintenance the weedeater is better. I only use the Mantis to get a clean edge when the sod is far overgrown on the sidewalk. A weedeater is not going to do that cleanly.

Yes. It works great.
@paulmo4076

The axle on both sides of the machine is round with a pronounced flat side its entire length. The flat side acts as a 'keyway' to drive the tool. The wheel hole is simply round and spins freely on the turning axle
