Yes, just the response i've expected from home with rugby or any other sport. It's somewhat the attitude and enviroment that speaks for itself. Lot of everything but staggers to what is most important. Like the Manu Samoa '7 winning the World 7s Rugby Title; what kind of welcome and victory salute was that!!! Tutuila, wake the hell up! I'm from Leone and for the first time I'm ashame to be one. O 'Tiafau' o la'u suafa; and if you're offended, do something better especially for our own heros.

@cheyanqui American Samoa has recently begun organized youth football beginning at 12 years old. In the villages kids began tossing a rugby ball (or a footbal) at the same age. But there is no organized rugby until juniors leagues of under 19. JW

@busycorner Actually, I mistakenly posted my previous comment through somebody else's account. You want to guess all you want about me being an Upoluan, and that's, but I'm also a Tutuilan through my mother who is a member of several prominent chiefly clans. In fact, those big chiefly titles originated in Western Samoa, and so do most Tutuilans - unless you are from Manu'a. Anyway, to me, there is only one Samoa, though Westerners divided us into two separate political entities.

Does America Samoa have much of a rugby following, or is their interest mostly focused on the Manu Samoa?

@busycorner -- Do young kids (pre high school) play touch rugby, tackle rugby, or anything else? There was a documentary segment (Real Sports on HBO), where they emphasized how the gridiron players from American Samoa have no exposure to to American Football until high school. Yet in the documentary, there was a 5-10 shot of two of the footballers playing 2v2 touch footy. I just wonder if their "raw talent" that HBO wanted me to believe wasn't so "raw", and had a dash of rugby in it.

In American Samoa there are games in elementary roughly similar to rugby. The sport of rugby itself however is not as developed as it is to the brothers to the west. There are efforts to slowly develop the sport of football in American Samoa at an early age. But if you understand Samoans, we love physical sports whether it be rugby, football(American), boxing, wrestling, etc. If always said, 'if Samoans knew how to skate we'd be hockey players as well.
