A friend of mine just called me last week to sell me his 991.2 GT3. It's a 2018 with only 53 miles on it and it is spec'd with a manual. He spec'd it such that it went from the base price of $143,600 to about $197K (part of it is an expensive paint upgrade). He then paid a $50K markup on top of that for a total price of about $247K. My neighbor just got a 991.2 Turbo S. He may sell me that. I'm torn between the two cars. They're both amazing for completely different reasons. I lean towards the GT3 but my wife leans towards the Turbo S.

Such amazing cars. The only grip (if I HAD to talk about it) is that I don't like the size. It feels like an extremely big car when I drove it. But performance is amazing, sounds amazing (the example i drove had GMG). Just awesome

I also hope they use this engine for the 992. I think it would make sense to use it in another generation from a business standpoint. Considering development cost. Also with Andreas Preuninger as the head of Porsche’s GT Division I would think there is a hopeful chance that we can still have 992 GT3s that are high RPM naturally aspirated engines.

the 997.2 is far more challenging to drive. For that reason it's more exciting.

The reason car makers are moving away from naturally aspirated engines is compliance with emissions regulations. Many of us think those regulations are too stringent and especially when applied to boutique low volume car manufacturers like Porsche. So what needs to happen to preserve these magnificent marvels of engineering like the GT3's naturally aspirated engine is to elect politicians who will ease up on these regulations. I do not think we're "wrecking the planet" by driving GT3's instead of turbo Carrera's.

Seriously difficult question to answer. The 997 is a more challenging car to drive which is fun...But the 991 is so usable without much compromise. I think I'd have a 991.2 touring manual with PCCBs. This answer might change before lunch time though.

Yes definitely feels quicker by a noticeable margin. I'm actually really curious how it'd stack up against the R8 (non-plus). It felt much lighter than the R8 I drove earlier and at the top end the GT3 felt like it might be faster.
