I had a charger that died recently and couldn’t find an old school charger locally and had to buy a new one from Tractor Supply, and it is one of these new stupid‘smart chargers’ which would not charge my battery. I’m going to go and buy one of those chargers! Thanks for the review.

Thank you for watching, such a dumb design built into those smart chargers.

Have one of these, it's awesome. I can't tell you how much it ticked me off to find out my expensive new charger wouldn't charge a dead battery. Didn't have to worry about that for long, apparently the circuit boards didn't like being stored in a non climate controlled shop. I'll never buy one of those fancy ones again, if i can help it.

Smart chargers will charge a dead/too low voltage battery by getting a 2nd battery and jumper cables to attach the dead battery to the battery that will charge with the jumper cables,attach charger to "good" battery and it'll charge both batteries up until you grt 13.5 or whatever its cutoff is..

Yep I mentioned that in this vi6, it's an aggravating work around.

I have this same charger. It’s great. I reconditioned my car battery with it 2 years ago, and it’s been going strong ever since.

I bought the same charger as that, but it was automatic. I had it for a year i charged, maybe 7 batteries with it, and last weekend, the control board shorted out, so I did the smart thing and ran my ball pean hammer through the display and sat down and went on Amazon and bought the step up from yours and I am positive I will like this one better 😀 😂 old school is best i didn't think thay made them anymore so happy they do can't stand the auto things junk

dang i got sidetracked and didn't even leave a comment! there a good brand ive got the older style tote around kind and it works just as good as it did new! mines got the deepcycle setting that makes it nice! nice to see there are the analog style as i call them without the bells and whistles!

Love old school...to me more reliable...just like in cars....want gauges so you can see what is actually happening...helps diagnose some problems starting to occur so you can check before more damage is done instead of getting a warning on digital and by then the problem is happening and it's too late

I'm the opposite, I want to put it on and not worry about overcharging. 😂 Some of the NOCO Genius chargers have "Force" mode and will charge completely dead batteries even though they are new school stuff. Good review!

I had to laugh - the battery in my truck is 13 yrs. old and going strong, as is my 40 + yr. old little 6/12 w/trickle Schumacher charger which I use every winter! I hate to think when all my old crap dies LMAO🤣 I am all about simple, straightforward, manual anything.

@@TheKelleysReviews The old Sears die-hard used to last 7-8 years. Then change the acid and get another 3-4. I wore a hole in the bottom of one that was at about 6-7, patched it, put in acid, and used it for I don't know how long, at least 3 more years. You would think in a day and age where everyone is preaching sustainability, they would start building them like they used to.

Yup, bought a Schumacher 1231, which won't charge a dead battery. Will never buy another 'automatic' battery charger for as long as I live. It also does all kinds of things it is not supposed to, like it puts power to the charging clamps with no battery hooked up, and the 30A charge does nothing now. I have used it like 5 times. I have a wheel around I bought beat to hell 20 years + ago, that has been further beat to hell since then, and it still works fine, and it WILL charge a fully dead battery...what a concept. Sometimes, when I see stupid designs like that, I am embarrassed to say that I retired from that same profession. Don't even get me started on SW engineers.

Setting a battery on concrete will discharge it.... they say. Set it on a piece of wood
@TheKelleysReviews8 ай бұрын
I've always hear that, this one is almost 8 years old and been on concrete for two years 🤔. It seems to be helping 🤣

@TheKelleysReviews lmao. Maybe on to something here! I know them old batteries would drain, maybe these new ones aint too bad. Batter test coming up! 🤣
@turbodiesel4709Ай бұрын
@@HalfPint5811 Yeah, that whole concrete discharges batteries is nothing but an old wives tale. Aka: NOT true. The main reason you don't want the battery on concrete is if any battery acid weeps/leaks out, it ruins the concrete. If placed on wood, the wood will absorb some of the acid.
