Yo! Just gonna clear up a couple of misconceptions/questions I’ve been getting a lot here 1. Neither me nor the artist here (DerpDrawz) made the designs for Hog and Scorched, they’re the new official designs that were posted to Twitter a little bit ago. I don’t think they have names since they don’t plan on doing Manual Blast in D-Sides, but yea they are official 2. The BFs that appear at the end are, respectively: B3 BF (Bartholomew) Hotline BF (Hotline 024) Bunbeats BF (Carlos) DJX BF (X) 3. You can make whatever charts, remixes, mods, etc you want as long as I’m credited, go nuts! Thanks for all the support on this, it means the world to me :]

Got some fanmade lore for this I worked on let me know what you think. Day 1: And so I begin my journey into modding! Man that’s way too dramatic for a journal but it’s my journal so who cares. I picked up an old copy of Sonic the hedgehog from a yard sale a while back. Decided to make this my first official game project. I plan on modifying the game and making my own rom hack. I have all the reference material and tools I need and to make it even more frustrating I've decided to do the rom on the actual hardware. Day 3: Hell I almost forgot about this. Status report, well I managed to finally access the code and I definitely got ripped off. It took me forever to get the thing working and lo and behold the title screen appears. Things looked normal until I actually started the game and was given the option to pick my character. I bought a copy that’s already been modded just my luck. I’ll take a look at the code after a playthrough. I wonder how amy plays like. I imagine like she does in sonic 2 but who knows? I’ll check in when I get more to report. Day 4: Beat it as sonic and amy going to do tails and knuckles next. Day 6: Ok yeah there's something wrong with this thing. The characters were off along with the controls. There were a lot of graphical glitches and sometimes I'd lose control of the character for a couple seconds. The others weren’t so bad but sonic was nearly unplayable. Sometimes he’d just stop and repeat one of the animations over and over again. Made robotnik's battles pretty difficult but I managed to beat her eventually. The others had similar issues but they were far more rare. Maybe once a level if that. Gonna have to just look at the code myself. I finally beat the knuckles route so I should be prepared for what I find. Though it’s funny that sonic sprite repeating over and over again almost looked like he was choking or something. Day 7: Holy crap who the hell had this thing before me. The code is a mess. I'm surprised I managed to do any playthroughs at all. It looks like someone just started shoving code into the game wherever they could. Sometimes in the middle of the character or stage code. This game should not run by all logic. And yet, my playthroughs are proof of that. Lord help me, I'm just gonna have to google some of this to figure out what half of this stuff means. Day 8: Someone was apparently trying to mod different characters from different sega games into this game. I found some from ristar, opa opa, ecco the dolphin(for some reason), and alex kid (Lots of code from Alex kidd). There are also some weird comments sprinkled in. Some like #Mine not his Mine keep it safe #Hate that hedgehog hate, hate, hate, why? #Not deserved must take! Reads like some insane rambling mess. Whoever was making this rom hack was not well. I’m starting to wonder if this is worth the effort. Maybe I should just toss the cartridge and be done with all this. Well I might as well do one last sonic playthrough. Maybe I'll see a funny glitch or something. Day 16: Lord, I've been busy. This is some .zip crap right here. My second sonic playthrough got real weird, real quick. As soon as I Got into the first level the game was making weird noises. It sounded like groaning and sounds of pain that only seemed to increase with every step. Eventually it stopped and Sonic started doing an animation I've never seen before. Sonic fell to his knees clutching his head and slamming it against the ground over and over. At some point he just stopped and got up and the game resumed like nothing happened until I got to the first boss. Sonic just changed, he looked like an amalgamation of different characters with sonic body being the center of the creature. He ripped robotnik out of the sky and graphically ripped her apart. The thing then turned to face the screen and I swear I heard my name being whispered. I’m officially done whatever this thing is I want no part of it. I am not dying to a stupid video game. Maybe it’s a bit of an overreaction but something about this is just off. I spent days just trying to figure out how it happened. I checked over every bit of code and every sprite but nothing matches what I saw. I’m selling it on ebay and that’s that. Day 20: surprisingly quick response from some kid and his girlfriend who were interested in “Haunted” video games. They were willing to pay some crazy money for it though so more power to them.(The girl was familiar but I couldn’t place her) They picked up the game yesterday and left. Good riddance I say From now on i’m sticking to modding mario games.

Actually, D-Sides Hog canonically is Sonic, from the Master System games to be precise. Scorched is Alex Kidd, who, outraged at being thrown by the wayside and replaced, erupts from Sonic's body like an alien parasite.

Hola jsjsj, nada que ver, pero se me ocurrió una puesta en escena de esta lucha y como sucederia, estoy abierto a cualquier opinión o comentario c: (I'm writing in Spanish because it's my native language, and KZbin already translate comment's to English, aun asi, sorry for that shsh) Bien, me lo imagino de la siguiente manera, antes que nada, algo de contexto, a diferencia de Scorched o los otros sonic.exe que basan todo en el Codigo, y como roban o toman o el código de Sonic, etc, Alex no esta sobre el código de Sonic, si no su energia, la energía se ve como ese brillo neon en su piel, pero sobre todo en sus ojos y cabello. En la primera parte donde Sonic pelea con XML, todo normal, hasta que de repente el contorno de los ojos de Sonic brilla y le causa dolor (00:42) cambiando asi sus sprites a unos donde se agarra la cara con dolor, hasta el 00:58 donde la cara le brilla con intensidad, después de eso todo el mundo oscurece, XML preocupado canta, y de repente en el 1:15 unos ojos y sonrisa brillante aparecen riendo, y en el 1:25 aparece la forma completa de Alex, el cual se supone habitaba dentro de Sonic ya que el antes era Sonic (la mascota de Sega) pero lo reemplazaron y cambiaron su energia. A lo largo de la canción, Alex lentamente se ira haciendo más brillante y Neon, esto debido a que mientras canta con XML esta robandose toda la energía de ese mundo (añade dificultad a la canción ya que distraen los efectos de destello y vibración de la pantalla), en la parte de blanco y negro, en el "Open your eyes" (3:32) la vista cambia a un primer plano con Alex frente a XML y el mundo ahora esta en blanco y negro debido a que Alex ya ha consumido la mayoría de energia. Sin embargo, ha consumido tanta energía que sin darse cuenta, le ha dado a Sonic también la suficiente fuerza para hacerle frente, por eso, una silueta violeta aparece detras de Alex y le da señales a XML de que lo ayudara, entonces Sonic se encarga de desestabilizar la energia que Alex ha consumido. Entonces las poses de Alex cambian a la desesperación intentando controlar la energia dentro de el, lo cual ya no puede, entonces empieza a tener explosiones de energia durante la canción (el efecto raro de Glitch), con cada explosión se lanza una onda explosiva que le devuelve al mundo sus colores poco a poco y ademas, cada que golpea a XML, lo transforman en otras versiones de si y de vuelta a XML. Al final, Alex ya no le quedan fuerzas y lentamente comienza a encojerse (5:00) hasta que Sonic vuelve a su forma normal, y fin :D. Díganme que les parece, igual, en este mundo se supone que la energía es lo equivalente al Codigo (segun yo), es por eso que cuando XML es golpeado por las ondas de energia de Alex este se vuelve otros Bf's, por que su energia se altera y curiosamente coincide con la energía que representa a los Bf's en los que se transforma, aunque, esto implica que no cambia de lugar con ellos, si no que simplemente se convierte en ellos por un momento debido al choque de energía que esta recibiendo de frente.

I had a similar idea for D-side Hog named Dillo. He's basically just a dude on the run from D-side Scorched, named Frosted. Frosted is a 13-foot-tall cosmic horror who, for reasons unknown, is hellbent on killing Dillo. He has an uncanny ability where he can possess almost any sentient lifeforms. Aka, literally everyone except for Dillo. (I'll let you guys brainstorm what Frosted looks like. ;-))

k that's actually not a bad concept, like the idea that instead of them being trapped in the same body with one hating the other, it's taking alil bit of a more traditional standpoint of one just having a bounty on the other, also really cool that instead of frosted instead of only being able to fuck up dillo, instead can only possess everyone else, salt to the wound lmao, really like the idea, especially gameplay wise

Funny your D-Sides Hog is named that, as the original D-Side Hog before Master System Sonic actually was named Dillo. Despite what the name suggests however, he looked more like an armoured chameleon. I like Frosted's backstory, it kinda reminds me of Hide and Seek, only they're two completely separate entities. I like to think that while Scorched burns up the Hog cart the more it's played, Frosted will tank his SegaSonic arcade cabinet's FPS, causing it to get laggier and laggier until it completely freezes, hence his name.
