Incase you didn’t know you should be able to take your trailer up to the service shop and pay to have it converted into a flatbed next time you have a bunch of bales to move then do the opposite for harvest time.

I use hay and silage for the cows, I use grass for the sheep. Keep it up love the content

Besides the contracts how are you planning to make a decent income from your farm? Only hay and grass and mushrooms? Seems like a lot of work for fairly little income?

Why didn’t you just wind row all of the field to begin with?

@@BollekolleDK I’m assuming you’re talking about when I put the Tedder on and finished the field? The Tedder would have made a mess of the windrows and I would of had to re-windrow it.

I used round hay bales and it would t work I thought maybe I needed to use square bales cause of the image

Love the content so far… been starting a scratch farm (loan and some starting money none of that too hardcore stuff). Only suggestion is focus on silage and not hay or grass. Those cattle will eat the silage and any left over you can sell for a higher price. Then when you’re ready (if you want) you can do the TMR and incorporate the hay and grass then.

why would you use grass vs hay? Hay is 80% for the health of the cows.

@CasuallyFarms o boy, ok now you are going to have to explain this whole thing to me..lol I am just behind you and I was going to cut my grass, then turn it into hay and use the hay to feed my cows. What is your plan? Obviously I am NOT a farmer

@ hay will work just as good as silage or wrapped bales. They both do 80% effectiveness. Only thing silage bales will be used for is when you want to make TMR….I would just stick with hay for right now!

When it’s time to make TMR you only have to use silage and hay. It says you need to use straw but you don’t

the benefit to straw is that it’s cheaper, you can fluff your TMR with straw to save some silage and hay to make more TMR later or sell for $$
