I would love a maker of fine pianos to not boast about their hand-built methods. I see nothing here that I didn't see in Fazioli, Steinway, Shigeru Kawai, Yamaha CF, Bosendorfer, and Mason and Hamlin "how it is built" factory tours. True, some have a few unique aspects to their pianos, but the general manner the pianos are put together is very similar. And it's not really all hand-built either. And it should not be. Some tasks are better done by CNC machines. Bravo to all that make C. Bechstein pianos the uncompromising great pianos that they are.

Totally agree with you Dave. And by the story of this CEO I was not very impressed. Frequently talking about the high standard of his products. If a product is good on it's own, there is no need to talk about the high standards. And it doesn't show what a Bechstein makes a Bechstein at least not in depth. I would have liked that much more.

Although the finished product of the modern Bechstein is a master-piece, it is NOT, a work of art derived from the expert craftsmanship that existed prior to the automation era!
