It is so ridiculous that it’s almost comical. Everything she says is succinct and honest; every word is gold. Interrupting her feels like a crime. Unbearable to watch. Yet she keeps persisting to converse with the mortal. Bless her. It is no wonder she barely does interviews.

His interview technique comes from the fact originally back in the day (particularly 90s etc) they had a very exact time slot and usually publishers would need X number of questions answered, if you let the author ramble away on one question you don't get your 15- or 30-minute segment and your X number of questions answered. Shows like this are non-existent now, and where rare even then, the fact we even get the interview is itself a marvel, despite its limitations.

Art takes time to be made. You cannot rush art. The fact that she takes so much time to write a book is because she creates sheer perfection with skill and the knowledge life offers along the way.

i want to be as wise and beautiful minded as her when I'm older. I'm fourteen and have started reading the goldfinch, I'm about half way through it and I'm completely and utterly in love with everything about the novel. ever since i got the book my fingers have been glued to it and at the end of the day, when i have to put it down, my mind is racing with what will happen next. sometimes i can't even sleep because i want to continue with the book so badly and honestly that is exactly why i am so passionate about this novel. I'm so in love with the goldfinch and i am so excited to read her other books and the others in the future.

Charlie Rose always liked two things: 1) His perceived superior intellect & "with-it" cool and, 2) Listening to himself talk. His interviewees are simply a means to amplify those ends. Donna Tartt is a FEMALE person of Talent, Intelligence and Substance; given what we have learned about Rose, can you imagine how much HE needed to put HER under HIS control?

He creeped me out talking about her persona and the color of her skin, etc. I looked to see who the interviewer was and then it made sense. When he semi-salaciously asked if she was somewhat uncomfortable about her lovemaking with Catherine Deneuve in THE HUNGER, Sarandon screwed a look on him and snapped back, "Well, let me ask you something, Charlie: What would YOU have felt given an opportunity to sleep with Catherine Deneuve?" He responded with a defeated chuckle and said, "You have a point. . ." To which Sarandon masterfully replied "UNH, HUNH" with an unrelenting (you-stupid-F*CK) deadpan stare. It's so clear what he's "up to" with Tartt, here -- what a schmuck! I was way more adept and worlds more considerate as a teenager in the 8th grade.

Dear Donna Tartt, I have read a modest 280 books in my 36 years. I have read 24 books so far in 2020. Not only is the Goldfinch the best of those 24 books I read this year but it might just be the absolute best I have ever read. Can I say thank you and cocoon myself to a fan? No. I feel the coincidences and parallels with my life, the references (hidden/sarcastic) were almost always open to me and somehow just by some patterny intervention, I knew all the cities you mention in the book.

I write my books at a slow pace, and I am about to be done with Book 7. Truth be told, there are authors who tend to write at a fast pace while there are some who write at a slow pace. Nothing wrong with writing at a slow pace, for I believe books that take quite some time to be written result in beautiful masterpieces.
