I just discovered this channel and really enjoy what this guy has shared. It's been a while since he's posted and I hope he continues as I find the information he is sharing to be quite informative. I especially enjoyed the cost breakdown he gave relative to growth rates and cost/return benefit.

What equipment do you recommend for hobby farmers/homesteaders?

A tractor is always nice and I would say nearly essential. I would get the largest tractor that you can fit where you need to because you will never regret getting a bigger one, but almost surely will regret getting one too small. Depending on your set up the implements can vary widely. I would recommend some type of mower for pasture maintenance, if you are feeding round bales (easier and cheaper) I would recommend a bale spear and that requires a tractor that can handle that kind of weight. If you fertilize get a liquid sprayer or dry fertilizer cone shaped spreader. Manure management is important so if you have to pull animals from the fields in winter and stockpile manure you will need some way of dealing with it in the spring. I use a manure spreader 2 or 3 times per year, but it is a hassle to find someone that has one to borrow, they are mostly poorly maintained so if something breaks that sucks. Hope that helped.

@@julietmike9136 yes! That greatly helped. We want recreational horses. Cows, chickens and maybe goats! And we defiantly want to feed our own round bales. I will look into a fertilizer and manure spreader!! so far we have: Elite 25’ flatbed trailer 1968 Ford 5000 with loader bucket and hay spear Ford 4-bottom plow Disc harrow 2019 Pro-Tank 55-gallon boomless Sprayer 2010 Kodiak Heavy Duty 10’ rotary cutter Box blade 2016 King Cutter Landscape rake And a bailer

Hi there, I do not know anyone that has a 175 for parts. I've got a Kubota, John Deere and Case dealer in my area, so they've been able to source or fabricate what I needed. I looked around the web and found a few sites that look like they supply gears and chains for just about everything. Hopefully you can find something that suits you. One thing I would caution is that sprockets/gears and chains have a break in and stretch/wear to each other, so sometimes if you are looking to replace a gear it's best to look at replacing chains and gears together. Best of luck.
