The Chamundeshwari Temple is located on the Chamundi Hills in Mysore, Karnataka, India. It is known as Krouncha Peeta, one among the 18 Shakti Peetas.
Chamundeshwari is the tutelary deity of Mysore Kings who patronized the temple for centuries. They were great promoters of arts & culture and made significant contributions to the field of arts during their reigns.
As tribute to their invaluable contributions Guru Manu Master offers 'ॐ चामुण्डायै नमः' a work based on Mysore Anthem. Basavappa Shastry, a court poet during the reign of Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar X wrote this anthem 'Kayo Shri Gowri'.
