@@dmcd3895 KZbin has been pretty good to me lately, pushing through my monetization and recommending the channel to new folks, for which I'm incredibly grateful. But as you pointed out, I shoot for quality over quantity, which might not be good for the algorithm. The issue too is that with these videos I can't even estimate how long each will take. I'll dive into the archives and the research might take two days. For other vids (like this one) it takes two weeks (saying nothing of editing). So while there might be a couple week gap between vids sometimes, I hope the end result makes up for the wait, and I hope KZbin considers the reason. Anyway, thanks for all the support, folks! Hi mate, I just wanted to tell you that although I'm Australian born, my Great Great Grandfather was North Dakota Sioux. Also, I trained as a costume designer for theatre many years ago and as such had to do in depth studies of the environments, psychology and available resources (dyes, fabrics available etc) which caused people of all nations to wear what they did. It's VERY time consuming to do such accurate research. I also just recently started playing RDR Online (I'm one of the oldest dedicated gamers right from the beginning of it all... way back to Intellivision's PONG... I'm 53 years old lol) and you've done an AMAZING research job for this, you're right, no one has done it in this sort of depth before... my Grandfathers would be proud and thankful for this. I certainly am. Absolutely WELL DONE and because of your dedication to detail... subscribed! Looking forward to more good stuff from you ans wish you all the best for the New Year ahead. :)

One if Apache/*Red Wolf, and the other is Choctaw-Apache/Yaqui(Mexican tribe). They too wear more masculine clothing most of the time because they're both bounty hunters. *The Red Wolf tribe is a fictional tribe from Red Dead Revolver that Red Harlow is kin too. Rockstar was asking for feedback for Indigenous American Content back in Jan 2020 but never hurts to ask for more especially an operational reservation www.rockstargames.com/reddeadonline/feedback?step=a614e986

For the female Native wear, the most accurate you would be able to get is the Stringham shirt paired with the Kamassa skirt, but Rockstar made these two options incompatible with each other. The best I could do for a traditional look is to use either the flora corseted chemise in the black and gold color or the laborer overshirt in the brown dotted color. Over this I wear the dark or lighter hide-colored outdoorsmen vest, depending on weather I'm making a dark tanned hide outfit or a lighter tanned outfit. Overtop I wear a Fuentes poncho in either the darker or light colors (again depending on the shade of the outfit), with any color of Zapata headband of your choosing to finish up the top half. Not that it matters or the tribal look historically, but I also use the goodman gun belt and holster to fit the look. Moving onto the lower half I vary from historical in some ways just to achieve a more pleasing look, so forgive me if everything I mention isn't 100% accurate. Starting off with the more accurate look I wear the Kamassa skirt in dark or light tanned hide colors paired with the Cibola or Brindille boots in matching or contrasting colors to the other hide colors. Alternatively, I will wear Lawncliff, Plata, Tied, or Lightfoot pants in as close to matching colors as possible for a more scout look to my female character, alternating between the Brindille, Cibola, or Hightop moccasins depending on the look I'm after. When wearing pants I will often add a Farnholme bandolier to represent the medicine pouch worn by Native Americans. Getting into glitched outfit territory, I will sometimes add one of the legendary animal heads to any of these outfits to either act as a "spirit animal" roleplay element, or to mimic the use of animal hide camouflage when Natives would hunt herds at close ranges. I again break from what might be historically accurate again when making winter wear. Opting to add an animal head (glitched) to one of my warmer weather outfits for started I will either wear a poncho, or the Maerbay coat that closest matches the animal head (currently I wear one of the buffalo heads as they match almost perfectly). Choosing pants and gloves that match in color to the coat I then wear the strayhorn boots in as close to matching as well. Any high collar shirts will work to cover your characters chest under the coat, but I often wear the Stringham shirt under my outdoorsmen vest when wearing the pants. Again, I know most of this isn't really historically accurate to the time period, but I am trying as hard as I can to adhere to a more traditionally tribal playstyle as possible with the limitations that Rockstar has in the game. (edit) For anyone wondering why I didn't choose other options, I have only owned the game for less than a year now and am missing all of the Outlaw Pass items along with most of the limited stock options in the game. As Rockstar brings back items, I will update my looks with what I have available to me.

I want to create a Native American character but I also don’t want to lose my current character, I wish Rockstar did what they did with GTAO and had 2 character slots.
@ManvsHistory4 жыл бұрын
Hey Robo, I'm with you on this. If you wanted to create a temporary Native character, how I 'got around it' so to speak was that I went into the character customization screen ('change appearance' or whatever it's called) and adjusted my 'heritage type', without changing my face. This allowed me to create a Native character for the video, but then go right back to my original character without having to recreate him , by just changing my heritage back. Of course we should just have multiple character slots, but this is an option if you wanted to hop back and forth. Costs $400 though if you don't have gold, so it can get pricey.
@robomadness20744 жыл бұрын
@@ManvsHistory I’ll probably end up doing that, I have plenty of money to spare so I should be able to switch back.

Another great video. This is, in my opinion, is the most valuable and important Red Dead Online based channel. Not only do you deliver factual and informative content, unlike most Red Dead channels, you inspire people to find new ways to enjoy the game and inspire people, even people like me who have played since the beginning, to want to play more. There's this awful culture on channels that discuss this game to mostly to whine. Either there's not enough updates or the updates they have are not good enough etc. It's refreshing, as ever, keep it up man. Happy new year!
@ManvsHistory4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Ghost Rider! I try and keep it positive! Obviously I wish R* would add some things, but this game is fun and beautiful. And we need to remember that it's always expanding with new content, roles, etc. It's unfinished, and that in itself should make us optimistic! It's also a great avenue to deliver some historical knowledge about the era, all stealth-like. I sneak as much history as I can in a 'gaming' video. I can't help it.

Thanks for this video! I’m a native/indigenous Saskatchewan Canadian person(Cree-Sioux(or anishabae which is the same as Sioux) anishabae translates to “the good people” roughly in the language. As they ended up to be a more friendly tribe later on. I’m just at the beginning of the video but I’m already excited to see what you have to say! Hiy hiy Also important to get a lot more acknowledgement on the effect of “colonization” and “Residential Schools” which their main purpose was to “kill the Indian in the child“. I’m 22, and only just last year did I get my full indigenous native status here in Canada. And the poor living conditions and water conditions on certain reservations still happen way too widely “Regalia” is the term for the super intricate beadwork and feathered or jingle-dress pattered powwow clothing. For ceremony or celebration

I've been playing as a Comanche tribe with a couple friends for maybe 2 years now. I constantly make different outfits trying to make partial dress and traditional dress as well so this was actually a really cool video to see. There are a few more things that if you had purchased all the Outlaw passes you can use as well to better decorate your native character but they might not be historically accurate. Anyways thanks for the video and have a good day!

I think it would be cool to have some more authentic wear. My daughter was asking me for a while why haven't I made the lady native American yet because we're native American. It's hard to find clothing for the lady so I've gone with dark leather clothing which seems to fit well at the moment. She's got the back story that's she's from the black hills in south Dakota. And the tribe was eventually moved to current day eagle Butte.
