I knew Mike, he was a fellow HGV/Commercial Vehicle sales rep, along with my dad at Oswald Tillotson’s Summit Works, Burnley and he used to come to parties at our house. Mike also was navigating in Tony Fall’s works Mini Cooper in the Monte Carlo Rally. Brian Redman (of the Redman Grocery family), who went onto become a successful pro-racer was also a sales rep and mate of my dad. The Monte Carlo Rally Minis were displayed in Tillotson’s car showroom when they returned in a public open day. As a young lad, I sat in Hopkirk’s winning Mini, Brian came over, offered and later I was taken for a very rapid spin in it up to Crown Point and back by Brian… totally awesome.

We do think Mike filmed this in 1971 as he was a spectator. (plus the Ford Factory cars are all J Reg which is 1971 if that helps.)

Just realised it was 1972 - my mistake ( can't change video now without deleting it)
