In late July we took a walk up to Stoney Mountain plantation in the Isle of Man. This is a DEFA managed plantation that has held the best Black Darter population on the island for a long time. It also is the second best place on the island for Dragonflies.
The state of the ponds are a bit of a worry as the vegetation isn't growing like it used to and now is just a very low mat. I'm not sure if that's to do with the low water levels there for the last few summers.
Not good for emerging Odonata.
