The thing is, people that can AFFORD to fly out and live elsewhere aren't the target demographic. Conscription for wars, as with every other war in history, disproportionately draw from the working class and the poor. The people that does not have the means to leave from small towns many never heard of. Small towns that would be demographically devastated when those boys and men do not return.

He´s a the point of no return, a lot of Russians were affected by this war and now with the draft he´s probably losing a lot of support there. If he doesn´t win I doubt the Russians are going to let him stay in power after all the consequences they had. He might have to flee the country and hide to avoid the punishment not only from NATO but also from his own people.

When my grandfather was going to buy bread, SSR soldiers forced him into the car and took him to the war. to the second world war. fought against the Germans. He participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. My grandfather returned two years after the defeat of Germany. I remember he said that after the German fascists were defeated, we fought in the forests with Ukrainian fascist groups living in Ukraine for 2 years.
