Frigate is one of the most essential components of naval power. Throughout years, frigate has been transformed from its origin as the warship nations built to solidify their naval fleet. With the advancement of technology, frigate also faced significant transformation in shape, ability, feature as well as function in general. To date, frigate remains to serve superpowers’ fleet as an effective combatant in the battlefield.
Since the Cold War, the Soviet Union was commonly known to have a strong land power, as opposed to the United States who was exclusively claimed to be the greatest naval power. However, that period when the Russian seem to be less interested in developing robust warships has gone. The country reportedly owns the world’s most advanced and deadliest frigate - the Admiral Gorshkov.

Btw if anyone was wondering, the warship that was sunk near the coast of Odessa was a Stregushchiy class corvette, not the Admiral Gorshkov class frigate. And also: to the people who think that Russian military assets are useless: 1) Almost all of the weapons being used in Ukraine right now are Soviet era machines, all of the advanced equipment is sitting in Russia or being tested/used in Syria. 2) If you compare the US advance in Iraq in 2003 a much smaller country and easier to invade with an army of kids with slingshots, to the current Russian advance in Ukraine, Russia is moving 10.54 times faster than the US in Iraq based on calculations. So take anything that any media outlet says with a truckload of salt.

The Admiral Grigorovich class is a class of Frigates, not corvettes. Ironically, they were intended to be supplements of the Gorshkov class, specifically for the Black Sea Fleet. Another irony is that they had to find different engines tuhan the GOshkov's as those ships engines were made in...Ukraine!
