Dan, you rock as always! These filters are really not needed if you have a hole house filter or a water softener system in your home I believe. The system would take care of all the calcium in the water and most of the other bad stuff in the water. For instance, our clothes washer, dish washer and so on lasts twice as long as designed, because of the softener. Plus having a filter next to the toilet is just not an attractive thing. Thank you for doing these video's. They are so helpful.

Thanks so much for the kind words! I agree, if you've got a whole house softener and filter, you're probably good. Some customers still choose to use a filter just for the sake of being as careful as possible, but I agree, if you have really good water quality, you can probably do without.

Have a BioBidet and asked them which filter to get if I had hard water, and they said to get their Carbon filter. But from your video, you seem to think their Iodine filter instead?
@ManyBidets2 жыл бұрын
Ion filter is probably the best for hard water, but since Bio Bidet does not make an ion filter, I'd recommend what they call their "iodine" filter, since it does not appear to be an iodine filter at all

So would the charcoal filter be the better choice for removing chemicals like, chlorine and fluoride?
@ManyBidets3 ай бұрын
A carbon filter would be best for removing chemicals like chlorine and fluoride. However, carbon filters are not very common and we no longer carry them so you may have a hard time sourcing them.

Does any remove fluoride?

Unfortunately these would not be fluoride filters. I do not know of any that would for a bidet.

Daniel, you answered the question what’s inside the various bidet filters you demonstrated, but didn’t really address how these filters will make your bidet run better. Regarding the carbon filter, I’m having a hard time imagining what organic compounds in normal potable water would cause any damage to the internals of a bidet. After all, a bidet is really just a water pump with a heater. Regarding the sediment filter, if your water source is not filtered when it enters your house, it may contain solid particles that would be captured by a sediment filter. It seems reasonable that particles of that nature could in time, cause wear, or damage seals internal to the bidet pump mechanism. Regarding the ion exchange filter, if the water supply to the bidet contains a lot of calcium carbonate (ie. you have hard water), you run the risk of having calcium carbonate, also known as lime deposits, form on the heater elements in the bidet. This could interfere with, and diminish the heater’s effectiveness and perhaps clog the small passages. So I can definitely see an advantage to using the ion exchange filter, especially if you don’t have a water softener in your house, or if your water softener is only partially or periodically functional. I have a hard water private well supplying water to my house but I also have a whole house water sediment filter, as well as a whole house water softener that treat the water before it reaches my bidet seat. I currently have a Brondell Swash 1000 bidet seat using their branded pre-filter. Seeing in your video that this filter is really an activated carbon filter it seems to me that I’ve been wasting my money. I am throwing out the Brondell seat because it has failed three times and Brondell refuses to sell me the parts required to repair it. I’ll be replacing the Brondell with a Cascade 3000 bidet seat either with an ion filter, or possibly no filter at all. I hope this discussion helps someone who is trying to determine whether a pre-filter makes sense for their installation of a bidet or bidet seat.

@@ManyBidets And I appreciate your videos. They have been a big help as I decide on my next bidet seat. I ordered a Cascade 3000 from ManyBidets.com three days ago. 🙂 Whomever designed your website and post sales email communications routines did a fantastic job. The automated routine for creating an online account did almost everything for me. All I had to do was approve! As someone who once developed and ran his own web site and server hardware from his home office I think this is next level execution in terms of customer friendliness. The email updates confirming my order and shipping arrangements and tracking were first rate too. Please share my comments with your team. 👍

Using more than one will reduce water flow too much, and void most warranties

I've had two Toto washlets and neither lasted more than a couple of years due to hard water calcification. You said that Toto doesn't recommend using these filters. So does that mean Toto simply isn't an option for someone with hard water?
@ManyBidets Жыл бұрын
If you have hard water, I'd recommend something other than TOTO. I'd recommend trying the Eco Nova bidet seat: www.manybidets.com/product/eco-nova-bidet-seat/ and adding a filter to it.

I have a portable bidet system which uses 1.6L of water. How much water is used in the average bidet that fits on the toilet? Does the water flow as long as I decide or is there a set time for water flow?
@ManyBidets2 жыл бұрын
It depends on how long you run the bidet. It can use as much water as you want it to, as it's connected to your home's water supply. Generally speaking, most bidet seats use between 0.1 gallons per minute and 0.32 gallons per minute.
@DavidtheGNomad2 жыл бұрын
Could the carbon filter from brondell protect against calcification? Our water heater got chuck full of it so I'm planning to install the brondell filter when I install the coway bidetmega 400e. They mention there is a filter you should replace every 4 months but I couldn't find any information on replacements. So brondell seemed like a good stop gap. Oh, the brondell also mentions that it removes chlorine. Based on your review would you think that to be true? And what would the value of that be for the bidet system?
@ManyBidets2 жыл бұрын
I don't know enough about the coway line to be able to confidently recommend a filter for that brand. Your best bet would be to reach out to them directly should you decide to stick with that brand.
@DavidtheGNomad2 жыл бұрын
@@ManyBidets nice, thanks for the reply. I have reached out to coway, really trying to understand more about the brondell filter. Do you think the brondell would prevent calcification based on what you are seeing on the inside of the filter?

@@DavidtheGNomad not really... I would go with the ion filter.

Why does Toto recommend that you don't use a filter?
@ManyBidets2 жыл бұрын
It has to do with water flow... While, in my opinion the water flow that comes out of a filter is enough to work with a TOTO unit, TOTO has decided to not risk it.
