当時ジュニアとかシニア1年目とかで戦ってた選手たちのプレッシャーは物凄いものだったんじゃないかと思っている 将来この天才がそのまま成長したら自分の立ち位置が揺るがされる、世界選手権やオリンピックの枠を奪い合う相手になるかもしれないなんて恐ろし過ぎる この時の演技は世界ジュニアなどの大会の派遣が無いからここまで思い切った構成にできたのだろうけど、それをこの大舞台でやってしまうメンタルも物凄い

これ見てたのでよく覚えてます。もう本当にびっくりしましたね。 トリプルアクセル半回転足りなくても、ちゃんと片足で着氷しちゃうというのがすごい。 技術も表現力も素晴らしいの一言。今は日本はフィギュア大国で、後輩のスケーターがどんどん育っていて大変な時なのかもしれないけど、この時の笑顔これからも見れたらいいですね。

This makes me unbelievably jealous - how can she do triple axel and 3-3-3 at her age?! I know they're underrotated but who cares, the foundations are there and she's 12! So adorable!

3A, 3F-3Lo-3T, 3Lz-3Lo, 2A, 3S, 3Lz I think this program was the most difficult in the ladies history. I'm sorry this wasn't international competition.

It was. The hardest elements possible all put together. (Literally) Even under today IJS system, it still is. (Only counting triples as there were to quads then except Miki, which was still rare. Triples were still the hardest. Only 2 triples allowed to be repeated (total 4). She had the hardest possible elements. In the 3 jump combo, every woman would do 3-2-2, yet Mao did 3-3-3, which was considered revolutionary, even till 2018. Along with her famed and unbeatable step sequence, this truly is the most difficult program without any quads. Most difficult in history till senior 2018/19.

this was still during the 6.0 scoring system, which was based more on performance and how you can sell it, and since mao was so young they accounted her maturity level i'm sure. if it was based on the new points systems she would have won.

@HelTra91 Hopefully! I just judged her in the new system and according to me she got 107.28 for this program! Technical score of 60.80 and components of 46.38! She is an amazing skater now though! I love her music choices for this season!

@peachymanatee she's a lot taller and heavier at age 20 than she was at 12... eventually that type of jumping really starts to take a tole on the legs and achilles tendon. Tara Lipinski could be seen as a prime example.
