What a great talent. The landings are really superb. And her spins are so strong. I really hope she gets to go to the 2030 Olympics. And to the Japanese fans, ignore that one Korean comment mocking her. We Korean figure skating fans know how talented Mao is. Ignore them 😊

Love her! She grew up a lot but the jumps are all still there, including that fantastic 3A. It's early days and there's already a lot to praise in this performance. WTG Mao!

A truly remarkable talent. My only critique is that sometimes her arms could be better placed but she is truly great.

Like both of her dresses this season. This one gives off old fashioned vibes with the green but in a good way.
Her jumps and spins and outstanding. I just didn't feel a lot of connection with this music. There was some choreo, but it felt a little phoned in. Maybe as the season progresses, she'll connect with it more.
@yoru3107Ай бұрын
It's a difficult song to skate to and the choreo itself is not the best. I do agree with you that she will need more mileage with this program. It's a good thing tho that she is trying different genres.

I did get the connection between her choreo, music and costume as well. Agree with you guys that the choreo needs more work though. Maybe it’s harder for you guys to understand/interpret the music because the lyrics are in Japanese? (Am Japanese and understand the lyrics)

@@minamikato9962 Not necessarily? I mean, in general I get the intention behind the music, the choreo and the costume as well and I am not Japanese. At the same time, I kinda get the OP's point about the choreo ("felt a little phoned in"). All in all, it's the choreo that is the issue here. Can Mao just get a new choreographer from now on please?

@@minamikato9962 Possibly. Also, I usually have to see a program two or three times before I really get it. They tend to grow on me as I watch them through the season.

If you told me her jump coach was the same person who trained Satoko Miyahara, I would not be surprised. The rotations are very quick but she barely leaves the ground.

its time to drop the quad. she grew up.

Rion Sumiyoshi landed a quad at 20 years old. It's still early in the season, falling on jumps is normal.

Last season, she didn't really get it until the end of the season. I'd be concerned if she can get it (and the 3A) consistently now, because that means she peaks way too early. Puberty is a tricky thing, but seeing that her other jumps look bigger, more rotated and more stable now as compared to last season (which looked worryingly wonky), I don't know, I have hope.

Yall shouldn't have responded, they're looking for attention. Next time an eteri worshipper says something angry about a Japanese skater, don't respond.
