Thank you for talking about how to position the mic based on the camera. So many people neglect to talk about that and it’s specifically what I was trying to determine ❤️

great well in depth review! with so many boom arms out there, its hard to find reviews on these newer ones from the bigger brands and in general.

thank you! there definitely are a ton on the market now, and thankfully a lot of them are better than they used to be!

My problem with LP arms is that they don't adjust the angle automatically when raising or lowering the arm. Regular boom arms to that. Like a monitor arm.

Thanks for the review, and esp. your past keyboard reviews! (using a Nuphy 75v2 now). Low profile and square boom arms do look better than the hideous articulated ones with the springs. I find boom arms in many videos to be hideous, cutting across 1/2 or 3/4 of the middle of the frame, and then some tubers add in huge ugly mics with disgustingly ugly pop filters. Not a cool look unless it’s 100% for radio. In many cases it works quite well to use a standard vertical mic desk stand of appropriate height, a lot of which can be out of the frame, than to use any type of hideous boom arm.

Thank you! Totally agree that the positioning and appearance on camera is important unless you're doing audio-only.

Excellent work! Do you have a shock mount suggestion for the Sony Ecm-s1?

The screw mount on the end seems like an easy failure point.

Nice review, I have the Elgato low profile boom arm and Wave 3 mic, I came to very similar conclusions about using one for removing the mic from shot . I had previously been using a Blue Yeti and a Tonor over head boom arm but i constantly struggled with positioning. I know exactly what you mean about the magnetic panels though it's probably the biggest downside to the Elgato arm.

Thank you! It was actually the elgato low profile arm I was referencing - it wasn't a problem if I never moved the arm but when I would swivel it out of the way I always popped one of the covers off, super annoying. Otherwise I really liked it!
