This video is so powerful and emotional. The reason I’ve been back to the Polynesian Cultural Centre so often is because I just love immersing myself in the different Polynesian Cultural Centre. I went with my friend last time on the super ambassador tour. The guide took pictures of my friend tossing the poi balls.

I teach fiber crafting, with an emphasis on hand spinning and weaving. I tell all my students that my hands can teach them the skill, but only their ancestors can teach them the mastery of it. We are creating timeless things, things that go so far back into our history that the origins have been forgotten. It is when we forget that our culture is inextricably tied to the hands that make our tools, our crafts, our songs, our foods...that is when a culture dies. Our history, and out future are right there...in our hands.
