Olds Pwr You are correct it was designated A for intermediate size. G "bodied" cars did start in 78. In 82 the intermediate A designation went to the front drive cars.

The car racism, if fully familiar with. I have an antique 27 year old Saturn SL2 with H&R sport springs, KYB GR2's, a polyurethane master bushing kit, ported intake manifold, bigger throttle body, GM 1991-93 header, cold air intake, seibon carbon fiber hood and a MOMO Gotham steering wheel in it. and i'm going to rebuild the engine .20 over hyper pistons, stage one port and polish with polished combustion chambers, run dual intake cams, 3rd generation crank and lower tie plate, mild deshrouding of the intake valves, minor blending of the bowls, 1-2 mm narrow blended valve seats, and ARP main and head studs with a 14-15 PSI of boost, with a MS3 Pro ultimate stand alone engine management! The car weighs 2290 LBS with the Seibon hood and it's a rocket ship even now but it's gonna be downright ferocious when I'm done with it and I get people constantly pooping on the car, it's either u get people who hate the Saturn's, or they love them like a cult following, I'm in the love category and don't care what people think...lol

Not sure of the 'myth and rumor' against the TH250 (Powerglide 2-speed auto), but having read TONS of negatives against them for 'high horsepower applications', I can tell you they can take a LOT MORE than most believe...and a TH250 vs a TH200R4, the Powerglide will beat one on the clock EVERY TIME! I say this, because I had a friend in high school that had a STOCK FACTORY 1967 Chevelle SS that had a 375-hp 396 in it, with an OEM TH250 Powerglide behind it, and IT NEVER FAILED! (though, he did eventually blow the engine)...at 6,000-RPM he could 70-MPH before shifting to high gear, and CONSISTENTLY turned mid-13's (with stock polyglas tires)...so don't believe all the hype...they were MUCH TOUGHER than the lies you read about them now!
