Leafs fans are delusional if they think the Leafs will be better next year. Paying the kids big money now means next year is a right off. Marner Matthews Nylander's contracts should look better down the road but not right now. They've lost Hainsey, Gardiner, Marleau, a 1st round draft pick, Brown, Zaitsev, Kadri, Rosen and replaced them with a plethora of perennial minus players. Barrie scores 50 points every year and is still a minus 20 annually. I can hardly wait till the Leafs fans start blaming Babcock, like it's his fault. If the Leafs make the playoffs it's another first round exit. If...

@Jeepman89 Hainsey plus 30 Gardiner plus 19 Brown Plus 11 Zaitsev Plus 2 Ceci Minus 22 Barrie Minus 65 in the last 4 years Harpur Minus 13 Kerfoot Minus 9 Notice a theme. Gardiner is better than Barrie. Hainsey is better than Ceci. Zaitsev is better than Harpur. Ask any hockey person, not a fan, a real hockey person like Button or Ferraro. More goals, less grit, going to be many 6-5 loses next year.

Get the puck out of the zone quickly, eat up as much O zone time as possible and wear the other team down. Plus and minus is too much of a black and white stat. Leafs were a better 5 on 5 team then the Avs last season. Special teams is what hurt the Leafs in the playoffs this year. Weak Predictable Powerplay and abysmal PK.

Dubas and Co. won't say it, but the suspensions in the playoffs played a big part of it. In 14 playoff games in the last 2 years Kadri was in 2 of them.

Marner grew two inches this past season, put on 20 lbs and went from 69 to 94 points. This kid is only getting better. His whole life he's been the small kid and had to bet on himself at every point in his career to get to where he is. Pay the man what he wants, for as long as he'd like.

You give Marner what he deserves because there are many comparable players that have signed the last 2 years. Anything over 10.5 is a loss for the leafs, especially now that Panarin signed for 11.5 as a UFA.

@@KyleMacSkill marner is younger than panarin, with more ppg, and will produce at a WAY higher rate than him. I'm not saying pay him more than McDavid obviously. If you pay him 11.5, you'll have one year of him being worth less... After that, cap goes up again and 11.5 is a bargain. Same with nylander. Was 6.9 overpaying last year? Absolutely. Will it be for the rest of his term? Not a chance

Yeah, there was definitely some attempts at the so called attentions between Dubas and Babs. I think it's clear that the media doesn't like Dubas for some reason. Personally, I think some of the media enjoy watching the Leafs look terrible and don't like it when they get better. It's no doubt they would love to see someone steel Marner.
