the trick with boo is that he is actually throwable, he takes no damage himself when thrown. have karlach throw him!!! go for the eyes!!!! poor wyll being bugged out AGAIN. what’s supposed to happen is a scene where he fanboys a little over minsc just like karlach fangirled over jaheira back in the shadowlands. it has very weird flags where it can only happen in the overworld and not camp or it bugs out, iirc. damn, that gale conversation after meeting with mystra was quite different from the one i had with gale in my playthrough… i think this has to due with you accidentally skipping a cutscene with gale after reading the annuals of karsus. since you did that controlling gale and never had mapo gnome read it, you didn’t get the opportunity to dissuade him back there about using the crown himself, which i believe in code means that gale has more flags for using the crown than not right now. think of it being shart choosing to kill nightsong or not, it depended on how you talked about it before with them. be careful about the doing cutscene as companions things, just make sure mapo gnome is also doing whatever it is as well. let’s hope mapo gnome has imparted some words of wisdom on our dear wizard!
@nickrubin73128 күн бұрын
Even in that scene in vaults it is very hard to dissuade him since it is not "natural" (usual, conventionally accepted), at least for most RPG players nowadays, to go on fully with confrontation in multiple dialogue instances and challenge companion's path. In his case it requires full on "stfu Gale, this is stupid", and saying it multiple times, basically bullying, not just "ehmm, maybe you're wrong, maybe not, but I have questions for more info". Fun neat little interaction thing, that if you bring Gale to Lorroakan after the scene in the vaults, and you dissuade him about his "ambitions", he will speak differently, with humility even. But yeah, since he played as Gale, he experienced this whole interaction as Gale and chose a specific option/path as Gale. It is good RP overall and interesting interactivity, just players should be mindful when doing that, they are fully experiencing things as if they were playing as that origin character.

Epic fight with sarevok. Incredible music, *insane* voice acting, and a genuinely terrifying boss. Good shit. The TPK feels so appropriate here honestly. Like if anyone was gonna annihilate you, this is the guy I'd want to do it lmao. Hope the TPK didn't feel bad! For me it was always fun to get surprised, humbled, and then have the chance to strategize and go again! A TPK or two is an essential part of the experience (imo, I know some people probably would rather just... not lol. Esp if, like "Cherry Cupcake", they don't enjoy the combat and just play for the story. Which is totally valid!) Great episode mapo ❤ Was awesome seeing how this encounter goes with Jaheira and Minsc in the party! Hadn't ever seen that. In my playthrough I managed to dominate him into killing his entire team but I didn't realize until it was too late that just meant he was powered up from his echoes and at full HP. Minsc is a ranger because there was no barbarian class in BG1. He was set up as a dual wielding melee ranger, back when Rangers were more an up front fighting class like fighters and paladins. They kept him a ranger even with the newer rule set so people didn't scream and yell about breaking lore.
@nickrubin73125 сағат бұрын
Correct, albeit a bit more complicated It is a game made with licensed IP from WoTC. After BG1-2 any companion, the overall events of the story, even some races/subraces homebrewed by Bioware are part of the IP moving forward, canonized by WoTC (which is party of the problem with BG1-2 on itself as duology, but would be spoilers to discuss). So, no matter who would use Minsc in their product, whatever this product is, if they use it within commercial license, and not just some open-license stuff to make campaigns for group of friends, they would have to initially use him as Ranger with certain stat distribution (same with Jaheira and other characters, all WoTC canon). Same fate for all the characters created by Larian, if they would be ever used by everyone else in their products, as Larian themselves said (by Swen) when license agreement ran out this year "they now belong to WOTC". As soon as you get Minsc in your party, he is part of your headcanon and mechanics of the game in full, thus you can respec as you wish. Just, within the IP, he'll always be a ranger now, with certain attributes. Maybe they even wanted to change (possibly not, because of the reason you pointed out, didn't want to break the lore), but even if they wished, they wouldn't be able to do it on their own, and WoTC probably would need strong reasoning to do so, since they don't like to do it when pushed from outside and gatekeep their DnD canons no matter how messy they are. The whole petrification and unpetrification thing is also not a Larian invention, by WoTC canon backstory leading to the events of BG3

This playthrough has been so much fun to watch. To comment on the Gale and Mystra situation, my interpretation was definitely one of Mystra only feeling threatened by the different Weave situation, not really of it being an evil existential threat to the world. Thing is in the context of BG3, the game can make this ascension to godhood sound like inherently evil ambition due to the alignment of the characters trying to do it, but it's not that uncommon of a thing and not all who do it are evil. In fact, Mystra herself is one, or two rather. Current Mystra and the previous Goddess to hold the name and domain of Magic are both mortals that ascended rather than primordial beings or children of existing deities.
@alifreeman9135Күн бұрын
The reason Gale has become such a strong proponent of using the crown for himself is because your responses, even right up to his visit with Mystra, have been ambiguous enough to encourage him. If you had chosen 'you should seek Mystra's forgiveness' before he goes to visit with her, than he is much more easily persuaded that the Karsite artefacts are evil and becoming a god is not the best option.
@nickrubin731223 сағат бұрын
That's not the only affecting conversation, the one you have throughout the game, especially in Sorcerers Sundries, is very important to his character as well. There is a path in which you don't suggest him to seek Mystra's forgiveness, in fact it is pretty much non-obligatory to ask her forgiveness if Gale already has no desire to wear a crown at this point (which still doesn't mean he won't give it to Mystra, which is also probably not the best option and thus seeking her forgiveness isn't also, depends on who you see it all) Gale branching is wild overall, but it would be spoilery to tell, he has a lot of ending variations.

In time of BG1 there was no Barbarian class. So he was always Ranger. But with unique berserk ability. He's met in about a 1/6 of BG1 story paired with with Dynaheir a human mage (but Mnsk call her witch or wise woman) from same region - Rashemen (quite far east from Baldur's gate). At the start of BG2 you find Mins in same starting room as your main character. Soon after you find Dynaheir dead. So Minsk find self a new pair - elf wizard/cleric called Aerie. You are right as human Minsk can't be alive in time of BG3. So developers comes with a trick. Soon after event of BG2 Minsk was ambushed at marketplace of Upper city and petrified. He stayed as statue for about 80 years. Lucky accident of wild magic surge turn him back to flesh just in time he can participate in events of BG3.

The battle with Sarevok is so interesting and one of the hardest in the game, in my opinion. Especially when you're fighting for the first time and don't know what to expect. I only won here on tactician on my first playthrough by a miracle of God first try. At the end only Sarevok and my bard Icewind with Astarion were alove with low hp if I'm not mistaken. And we were only able to survive because the bardess cast Tasha laughter and Astarion used the cloudkill scroll. And we ran from Sarevok while I cast laughter again, and Astarion moved the cloud if Sarevok came out of it. It was very funny. And Sarevok's laughter made it even funnier.

"The game is too easy" Act3 bosses: hold my insane abilities with over 9000 attacks to the face. Congrats on your 3rd TPK! (right? gnolls and goblin camp previous ones?) It isn't the hardest one ;) , all Act3 bosses are sort of "checks" for party composition and builds. Once you know what they are doing might be easier. Killing ghosts of priestesses of Bhaal also must be strategic in this fight, since they all pump Sarevok upon their death. If you don't bring Jaheira and Minsc there is no such narration of "bad blood and there will be no compromise between parties", options that you're as player presented, and the opposition from Minsc and Jaheira to find a peaceful solution. Sarevok sees Jaheira and Minsc and like "filthy heretics, traitors, Harper worm, you will die!". Sarevok's actor Kevin Michael Richardson, even 20+ years later, still one of the best performances and voices fitting the character, one of the coolest sounding villains ever. Also, "Bhaal's Legacy" slaps hard, Borislav Slavov cooked with the soundtrack, and this track isn't even the most popular and everyone's favorite one.

i mean i found act 2 bosses quite hard, i would argue they check for party composition too, even act 1 bosses... when you are not overlevelled... i mean, hag fight is quite different on level 3, 4 or 5... or with false team comp... or fighting Myrkul level 7 is another thing than fighting at level 9... and because i don't do so much sidequesting... i am not overlevelled like Mapo and others in those fights but allways underlevelled.... i am just wating for the first fight now where Mapo isn't overlevelled anymore... ^^ i mean of course... the game is balanced about not having the optimal build and having allmost all xp you can have... but more about having some gear and mid level... act 3 you should have good gear builds and max level... and game is balance to that... so yeah... for most people i think they would assume act 3 to be harder... but of course.. when you get all xp, best item builds and use all op spells and know what the bosses do and enter with the best team comps.... then the game is too easy ;o)

@nickrubin7312Күн бұрын
@@LLlap There is, actually for months now in the game, since patch 7 you can pick HM ruleset for Custom Difficulty without constraining yourself with a single save file, which technically makes this type of Custom Difficulty with HM rules, and especially if you hide some passive rolls, the highest difficulty outside of actual Honor Mode. Mind you that HM, and maybe you already know, but just in faces, FYI: HM has certain rule changes in comparison to other difficulties that are homebrew, especially considering Haste condition and Action Surge with regard to extra actions you can do while hasted/action surged (more faithful to 5e, less fun which is what Larian was going for with their homebrew).
@nickrubin7312Күн бұрын
@@zoefezius6615 I think act1 is just overall being underleveled/low-level adventure, it is hard for 1st time player no matter what, at least until lvl4 (first feat), although people usually tend fairly consider lvl5 as a threshold (at that point you certainly can punch enemies 1-2 levels up, maybe even 3 levels up). I actually agree that act2 does "check", but it has mid-game fairness, while act3 with some bosses it isn't about fair, because player kind of being unfair the whole game with the access to so many more tools than any enemies. Overall it isn't power fantasy, but very close to it. The difficulty is ingrained in knowledge/learning, not necessarily levels, just like pretty much with any cRPG. Ofc levels are important, but what is more important is reading and knowing what you're doing and what is going on, so you can plan the steps. Take Mapo 2nd attempt (you'll see in the next episode), he even wanted to switch companions because Minsc and Jaheira presented as weak builds, when it fact they were not properly used in 1st attempt, plus he didn't read what ghosts of priests of did in this EP, while killing them effectively pumped Sarevok. It is a lot similar to souls-like games, even tho the mechanics and everything else is different, the overall approach and perception of combat, knowledge and ability to adapt is a bit more important than raw level and stats (mind you that there are build that only take 1 feat and don't pump the stats at all). I I would say there is no such thing as overleveled in this game, especially with the framing of "doing sidequest makes you overleveled" when it is essentially just exploration and there are only few sidequests throughout the game. So reward for exploration is experience, which should incentivize the player to explore.... you see where I am going with this. Your level is always appropriate to you yourself as a player and investment on exploration, since bosses/enemies don't have a condition or a threshold that they apply to you in order to face them. Even more so, level is important, but not the only thing that is checked. Items, composition, tactics. However, the conundrum is that you can be underpowered or unprepared (not necessarily underleveled) when facing certain enemies. If your party is lvl9 against Myrkul and using starting gear since Act1 and you picked some mismatching feats, it doesn't matter if you're lvl 7 or 9, not really. Reality is, highly geared up and properly built party, fully on potions (strength, concentration, initiative, resistance to necrotic), slaps Murkyl, maybe not on the 1st attempt, but lvl plays secondary part in here.

@nickrubin731223 сағат бұрын
That's the thing. Shar and Selune are greater deities. Overall, they don't really care about all this nonsense, and someone like Bhaal would probably appear to Shar as an overinvested weirdo. She literally plotted to kill Mystra with Cyric and succeeded, Spellplague followed, countless deaths all around. Bhaal "murder obsession" is clownfiesta in comparison. Shar is literally goddess of darkness and loss, that like not even caring about non-existing, that literally power of nothing, of the emotionless endless dark void. She is probably still interested to what would happen if somehow she would get less followers, and DnD gods are dependent on the amount of souls that pray to them (thus the whole disturbance, because according to Withers mindflayers have to souls, same with devils interest in this plot involving mindflayers, they are also dependent on mortal souls), but honestly, the more loss the better as far as Shar would see it. Bhaal, Bane, Murkyl, current interation of Mystra, the ones you call monsters, they were all human ones and ascended. Lots to think about in here, they were all ambitious humans, especially The Dead Three. Vlaakith isn't even a true god, so she is even lower than quasi-deities (low-ranking deities). Edit: to be fair, in this playthrough Mapo did choose for Gale the option in Sorcerers Sundries, he didn't talk with Gale about it and Gale didn't choose himself in this particular case. But, that's not the only dialogue affecting Gale's paths, and Mapo knows Gale pretty well at this point to chose as his origin/roleplaying as him.
