Thanks for asking - but it will be a little while as I still haven't even done Maqam Nahawand (which is next) or Jins Sikah and Maqam Huzam (which will be the next thing). After that I will get to Jiharkah for the expanded Rast family in Unit 5

How do you tune the violin? Sol Re Lá Mi or Sol Ré Sol Ré?

Most Arab violinists tune Sol Re Sol Re, I tune Sol Re Sol Do.

@@Shah84838 no. Jins upper ajam is leading up to the tonic on the octave. It's the top part of the scale. Traditional maqam theory would simply call it jins ajam on a higher scale degree, but as I explain in the video, that's incorrect because the melodies of Jins upper ajam lead up to the octave tonic, while the melodies of regular jins ajam descend to the tonic. That is all explained in the video, as well as in the book Inside Arabic Music. You can also see an explanation of this on the Maqam World website linked in the description.
