Amazing and insightful video. JazakAllahkhairun!! I'd say keep away from using music in videos as some people definitely have a more serious stance on it. I am however surprise how ustadh even knows these theme tunes 😂

I would like to give context to some of my other comments. I was corrected once for saying that I like the "singing" of the call to prayer and reciting of Quran. I was told that it isn't singing, and that I was ignorant. I feel like I am beginning to understand the difference, but in my opinion, I feel like those "people in the know" owe it to outsiders to give some leeway when their culture doesn't have similar differentiation between "singing" and something that sounds like singing. If I said that my personal definition of singing is anything that comes out of your mouth in a different way than spoken words and has melody, variation of pitch, meter, and/or tone (including prolonged use of your "singing voice"), is singing, then I would include all forms of chanting in that definition. For someone to say that I am wrong for not differentiating (even if I am ignorant to their particular semantic nuances) I feel is unsensitive to MY cultural semantic use of the words sing, song, singing, etc. While I am growing to understand that there are differentiations made by others, I don't feel that my use of language in necessarily wrong. I guess what I am saying is, I wish that in stead of being told I was wrong, I was told that "While it may sound like singing to you (me) that we (the collective Muslim culture) have differentiations based on rules and intent. Not as much, sometimes, is it WHAT we say, but HOW we say it. Telling someone they are wrong without sensitivity to the ignorance of others could be a MAJOR turn-off for someone that might otherwise be genuinely interested in learning more. I spent 8 years in Riyadh waking up every morning to the songs coming from the mosque down the street. Everywhere I have been (including my own country) I am always the one that is expected to be respectful of other's cultural differences. I have only ever found one place in the world where others felt a need to be culturally sensitive towards me (The Philippines). I think that reflects poorly on some for their need to be understood and accepted, rather than a need to understand and accept others. I'm not sorry for this rant hahaha, but I do appreciate that this seems a good place for some healthy venting, and I appreciate that you have been very kind to respond in thoughtful and respectful ways to me. I do apologize if I cam across as rude in any of my other comments. I hope that this lengthy explanation will give some context to my position and I thank you for taking time to read all the way to the end of this very long post. lol Ma salama, and may God bless you. To God goes all of the glory, Alhamdulilla!

I agree Some people act so foolish and self centered in social media comment sections , it's embarrassing. They claim to follow the prophet ﷺ path but display no grace and compassion like him, not even a hint of it.

Personally I feel like, in many cases this is a result of feeling attacked from all sides, so even a genuine person is seen as 'trying to mock /disrespect'

9:48: This isn't Nahawand, this is Bayati :) Going two steps up like that is Bayati, but if you went three steps up, it might resemble Nahawand. 10:23: Also this is Rast, as someone else mentioned, not Hijaz. Shaykh Sudais is famous for his Maqam Rast. So instead of your Maqams being primarily Nahawand and Hijaz, it is Bayati and Rast. This makes sense, as Bayati and Rast are perhaps the most prominently used Maqamaat, and are known as the Mother and Father Maqams respectively. To combine the two gives either Maqam Husayni (Major Bayati and minor Rast component), or Maqam Nairooz (Major Rast and minor Bayati component) Interesting point: If you listen to alot of the more senior reciters (age-wise) who haven't learned Maqamaat and even the more senior scholars who dont focus on recitation as a primary field, you will notice that the majority of them recite in Rast and some in Bayati as well. I think the reason for this is that a few decades ago when they were learning to recite, the recitations that were very widely available on CDs and tapes were the Haram reciters, such as Shaykhs Sudais, Shuraim and Huthaify. All of these imams mentioned above and most Haram imams generally used Maqam Rast, and thus many of the older generation who grew up listening to these reciters recite in Maqam Rast. Maqam Bayati is perhaps the most natural Maqam, and so many recite in this as well.

Which maqamat is commonly used by Sheikh Yasser Dossary? I’m trying to understand maqamat a little better

@@UCZ15 Sheikh Yasser is very advanced in his use of all the Maqamaat. I can't necessarily say that there's one Maqam he uses over others, but I would say that he is best known for Maqam Al-Bayati

Salaam brothers Wisaam and Bilal. Thank you for featuring my comment on maqamaat, which turned out to be 'thesis-ish' by the time I was done writing it :) Yes, I did put some thought into it, but it was quite spontaneous though and I just poured out what information I had on the topic, boosted by having recently watched the interview of Qari Ibrahim Bakeer with Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi and having his arguments fresh in mind. And, Ustaadh Wisaam, yes this was the first draft ... lol, I was typing on my keyboard, I was in full-flow mode and was typing directly on the KZbin comment window. Actually, I had a lot more that I wanted to say but decided to finish writing when I realized how long the comment had become. Imam Bakeer says that he recites Quran with full emotion, and lets the ayahs dictate the tone, and he also sticks to the Tajweed. I recommend watching his interview on youtube. Keep up the good work, and I will try to comment regularly on other videos. It shows that you all put in a lot of effort in creating these videos. The recent 'Shorts' are a great idea. PS: My apologies if I seem to respectfully disagree or present an alternative view on certain topics.

@bilalmateen1983
@bilalmateen1983 2 жыл бұрын
@@MuhammadA34777 Technically speaking yes, it's wrong. As Ustaad Wisaam explained it is not permissible as muqatta'aat are special letters and we don't know the meaning of these special letters. He also mentioned, no matter if some famous reciters do it, it is still wrong. I'm not learned on this topic though and imams like Yasser Dossary might have a different opinion on this or maybe they feel the need to go the extra mile in their qiraat knowing that there are thousands of people listening to them.
