A fly created by Dan Baileys and Network Monical in search of an effective and simple streamers and... Go if they achieved it. This fly captivated to the whole epoch... And up to today it is tremendously effective but it this fall down inside the group of forgotten thanks to the famous fashions. In black it is super effective at the last hour... Blank it was to a few of the first ones that we used to imitate the pejerreyes of the average Limay at the beginning of the decade of 90 and yellow a real headache was for big browns of the Limay and Chimehuin during almost two decades. Also in gray, olive and orange it is usually a worth accompanist of the best apprehensions...
For remembered Joe Brooks this fly was one of the tantalizing ones of monstros.
Hook : TMC 300
Weight: lead tape or lead wire, opcional
Tail: a bunck of red saddle hackle
Body: silver tinsel chenille
Under wing: white calf tail
Wing: white marabou feather
Topping: peacock herl
Head: deer hair, muddler style.

Hi Ruben, that's one of the best muddler heads I've seen. The whole fly is beautifully tied and balanced. I love reading the history in the description section, it brought me back to all the reading I've done in the past 40 years. Joe Brooks Trout Fishing was probably the first book I bought on the subject and was my guide to fly fishing and tying. He fished Argentina (in 1953, I was just a baby) and the book features two flies, one by the Ona Indians tied with a strip of juanaco hide (hair on the hide like a zonker) that's almost 200 years old. The other is a "mosca" tied with an eagle feather, given to him by an Araucana Indian on the banks of the Chimehuin R in trade for a Brooks Plantinum Blonde. The book has a photo and recipe of Don Gapens Muddler, the original tie. Brooks also shows a 3/0 blonde that All Troth tied on a suggestion from Harry Darbee that anglers fishing the big western rivers should tie their streamers on big salmonfly hooks to cope with the heavy currents. Before that Brooks only tied to 1/0 because his 3/0's swam on their sides. So Ruben, as you already know, flyfishing and tying is brother and sister hood intertwined through out history. Many of your patterns emulate the patterns in the book, especially the streamers. That's why I enjoy your work so much, especially the streamers. Thanks my friend... 👍🎣🌅☝

Hey Joe, thanks a lot, yes that book and selective trout from Carl Richards and Doug swisher are the books that capture my atention when times to tie and fishing, but i have more than 1000 books on my personal library, some good, some awesome and some bad ones. I fish the Chimehuin river this weeckend with Leandro and some other friend, is not the same river that it was 60 years ago, but its part of the History and its allways a pleasure fishing it with friends, at that time my father fish in the Limay River, it was an unknow river but it has same or bigger trouts than the Chimehuin river, there was no dams in the river yet and wild brown trout over 5 kilos where very common. Nice streamer. Most of the streamers I tie have historical significance in Maine, USA where I live. I am sure if I tied some of these someone would try them but mostly they want the "Carrie Stevens" type streamers. If you haven't heard of her, look her flies up online. She was a very good tier. She tied in hand and made beautiful flies. I do not tie them in hand because I don't have to. All the best and God Bless you and your family. Sean

There is a new book out called Heritage featherwing Streamers by Sharon E. Wright. She dismantles one Carrie Stevens flies, to reveal its secrets, and there are some other beautiful featherwing flies in it as well and most if not all the creations are Maine made.
