Una interpretación y una ejecución instrumental, magistral e impecable ( al menos para quienes no somos músicos, simples melómanos, porque la cuestión con los versados y expertos, va más allá). La música de Marín Marais para viola da gamba, tiene su tinte particular y su aire y colorido. Lo mejor del barroco francés de la época del Rey Luis XIV.

The guitar part is playing the continuo bass line, so it could be played by any number of continuo instruments. I imagine they chose to use a guitar for the piece for obvious reasons.

@@iiirdeyeheretik, there are many reasons behind. The baroque guitar was more important than we mostly think today. Robert de Visee was not just a well-known guitarist in France but he as well was a composer, teacher to the king and his family and court musician. That was due to the fact that the French royalty loved the guitar, so why not using it even for Marais...
