The Marandoo Iron Ore Mine, shown here in a 3D visualization created by DBM Vircon’s Digital Engineering team, is one of twelve iron ore mines in the province of Pilbara, Western Australia, that is owned and operated by the Rio Tinto mining company. This particular mine located at the base of Mount Bruce (part of the Hamersley Mountain Range), splits Karijini National Park into two halves, northern and southern. In 2011, Rio Tinto put a plan into place to extend the Marandoo mine’s life by 16 years until 2030.
DBM Vircon’s scope included shop detailing and 3D BIM Modeling of Structural Steel in two separate phases for this project.
