What hi fi said about harsh highs with akm dac. Now second test with ess dac said that is a better player ( updated: October 2024).Old school record player sound you said.That's perfect for me!

I have this CD player. Compared to the previous CD6006, this sounds much clearer with better resolution. It also operates quietly.

Some say that cd-6007 is a little bright sounding.What is your opinion,for people that are sensitive with treble. What cables,do you have?Iam looking for a new cd player.

My Marantz CD6004 that I purchased in mid 2014 is still running fine today. Ten years of flawless and rich music. It is hooked up to a Cayin LA34 tube integrated amp (4 X EL34, 2 X 12 AU7, 1 X 12 AX7) bought in mid 2014 and a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 10.4 floorstanding speakers bought in December 2013.

Marantz could've saved all of this ill feeling by just simply renaming the player, CD6007 SE or mk11 or whatever, it's not like they haven't got a long history of such. I bought mine in 2021 around the time that they paused production and stocks were low, so assuming it has the original AKM DAC, same for the amplifier. If they had openly sold the revised unit as having an 'improved' updated DAC, and a redesigned audio board, then who would complain about that? In fact the could've just called it the CD6008. A new DAC board is quite a substantial change.

In 2020 there was a fire at the AKM factory that stopped production for quite a while (maybe even still?) That may be why they switched the dac.

you're probably right , but Marantz should not cheat people (customers). if they didn't hide the gold bar there, they shouldn't say it's there . Thanks for comment 👍

Oh, please. If you double blind compared this ESS DAC to the AKM DAC you would probably not hear any difference. Why are people so focused on DAC chips? Also, you are comparing a 5000 GBP product to a 350 GBP one? Shouldn't logically the one that costs 14 times more sound little better? And do you really believe that those recordings would reveal even a slightest difference playing the sound back through youtube?

Okay then… I have a buyer next Monday for my Marantz CD63 MkII KI Signature CD Player, getting £220 for it!! Do I now keep it?? I’m Selling it as I wanted to buy the Marantz CD6007 in Silver, but after this blatant lie about the DAC chip being an AKM and it’s now an ESS, is there anyway of me finding out direct from Marantz or Richer Sounds where I was gonna buy it?? 🙄

My marantz cd6007 is impressive. It even smooths out those slightly edgy modern cds..plus you can stack about 60wav file cds on a usb stick!

Interesting topic and I have other people complaining about the quality or type of DAC fitted to the CD6007 - I am consideirng upgrading to the Marantz CD60 but I have concerns the same problem maybe found - what type of DAC is fitted - my next and maybe better option is the Audiolab CD7000 with an external Audiolab M-DAC+ - greetings from Ireland

I was thinking of buying one of these. I would use the optical digital output & use the DAC built into the Marantz amp which sounds fantastic (PM6005 bought in 2015 roughly).

Hi Adam, my good friend , I've just been having another look at this video and noticed your acoustic treatment on the wall behind you. I was wondering where you purchased it from? Also was wondering how you feel it's improved your sound? My reason for asking is because, I listen in our living room as you know and have no specialized acoustic treatments. I have been trying to talk my wife into allowing 😉, me to fit some, but so far she hasn't seen any she likes the look of. However she seems to like the look of yours. Hi Jim - Elgato WAVE Panels - check on my channel for it . this panel doing good job and are flat and it doesn't stick out too far from the wall, my room is almost dead now 😀

I know it's annoying, I bought one when they were fairly new over a year ago & I am not opening it up to find out because I am more than happy with the sound, so if if it does have the ESS in then I will psychologically think it's inferior. Some will still love this amp despite this problem. I do & I won't check a great sounding machine. You don't know what else you may buy with great reviews from any company & then once it's 5 star they start changing components. I also use the usb slot too a lot as I have about 800 hi res flac file albums which I attatch to a 4 slot usb extender so I can press buttons for each usb stick, so not taking out usb stick every time.

Yes, I know it very well, but I'm afraid of the price for servicing . in general, I like retro equipment very much, especially Technics, because I used to have it when I was young , and i regret selling it but that was a long time ago 🙄

No nie jest zły , cały czas go posiadam natomiast sam dac nie robi na mnie wrażenia .ponieważ używam DAC z mojego NAIMA. natomiast sam ten CD player chodzi bez zastrzeżeń czyta wszystkie pliki łącznie z HiRes ,pewnie na dzień dzisiejszy kupiłbym tylko CD transport , i pewnie Przyjdzie na to czas , polecam go do niższej klasy zestawów

@@loreslores7116 miałem kiedyś 700tke i bardzo ją lubiłem ale w porównaniu do maarantza grała bardzo ostro , wysokie tony były o sporo decybeli głośniejsze i ostrzejsze ,nawet na moim kanale mam jakiś filmik właśnie z tym moim sprzętem Yamahy , grają zupełnie inaczej ale nie wiem jak jest w przypadku 303 , wiem na pewno że Yamaha to jeden z moich ulubionych designów jeżeli chodzi o wygląd , wolę proste kształty

What was Marantz thinking with this one? It's supposed to match up with the 40n but it's lighter, the casework cheaper, doesn't even have matching side firing lights on the faceplate. No toroidal transformer in this one. No SACD capability. It doesn't match up at all with the 40n. It should have been 50% more expensive at $1500 and had all of those things. I'm not a fan.

How many buyers need SACD? Anyway, FLAC and DSD files, along with other formats can be used via USB port. No need for disc. This device was made by Marantz for all of us who have collections of CD-s to enjoy them. Simple as that.
