Thank you so much for this video! Lots of detail and the diagram really helped. When I acquired my deck the belts had completely reverted back to oil! I had no idea how they were originally supposed to be and the cleanup was intense! Thanks again~!

Glad it helped. You're right about the clean up. It's generally the most time consuming part of the job. Nothing that a gallon of rubbing alcohol and a package of q-tips can't make right. Have a good day

I could use some help; I have this deck from my youth, the small belt was broken, i replaced it, as shown on your video, the rubber 15 mm wheel (on the right side of the main Head) that pushes the tape , when play start does not touch the thin metal spinning rod, any idea? . Also if you open the front where the springs touch the buttons it looks that the forward and backward buttons have the spring at the opposite of the buttons, so tension is inward instead of outward on the button, im i wrong?. Hope im a bit clear on explanation, is a bit difficult without pictures i recon.

Oh man - its been a long time since i worked on that unit. And I don't recall having to deal with those issues. You can download a service manual from hifiengine.com and that might provide some trouble shooting and maintenance suggestions and parts diagrams.

Hi - It looks like there is a new Marantz deck available on Amazon for $150. Likewise you can find new cassette tapes on Amazon. Hope this answers your question. I had to use an on-line translator so I hope this is correct.
