Marathon Of Horrible Accidents On K2
K2, the notorious "Savage Mountain," stands tall at a heart-stopping 8611 meters, the second-highest peak on our planet. But don't be fooled by its rank, for K2 holds a reputation far more dangerous than Everest itself. Only the bravest and most determined daredevils would even contemplate attempting this death-defying challenge.

I've made numerous attempts to summit on all the 8000+meters mountains but never made it past the planning phase. I've settle for photoshopping myself on each of the summits. The money I saved, I used on getting myself a new puppy name Loki. He believes I have summited those mountains and thinks I'm awesome and the best mountaineer.

Plus you won't have proclaimed your love for the beauty and respect for a mountain and then leave all your oxygen tanks and garbage and human waste behind when you're done w/it. Good luck w/your new puppy. I'm glad you have each other.

I learn a lot on youtube. How to do my own brakes, diagnosing an electrical issue on my motorcycle and much more but 3 lessons rise above all others. Don't go rock climbing with someone you don't know... Don't keep going up the mountain when experienced mountaineers are going down. and the biggest one of all. Never under any circumstances NEVER go Cave Diving.

A great mother doesn't take herself away from her children for her own selfish goals. She might have been a great climber, but she can't be any type of mother if she isn't there.

I don’t see how it’s such an amazing thing that some wealthy people donated an exorbitant amount of 74,000 to get the body. I didn’t know him but most unselfish people (before he died) would never want anyone to spend their hard earned money or risk their lives to retrieve his body after he’s died. Many would even suggest that this is where he would want to be laid to rest. I don’t understand the resources and lives risked to get a corpse out. I don’t mean disrespect because I’m sure it is awful for the families. However what were the wishes of the deceased? Perhaps $74,000 could be used to look for those who are missing currently -who still might be alive -think of how much could be done for the people who still have hope?

To you it's just a corpse, not to them. A decent burial is what his loved ones needed for closure. It's their money, they're not the cause of the world's problems. $74,000 wouldn't even make a dent on the misery. Let them grieve in piece.

K2 is supposed the second highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest. It is apparently a far deadlier mountain to climb than Everest. More climbers have died on K2 trying to get to the top than they have on Mount Everest.

It is due to mainly its weather & constant avalanches. There us also nowhere to take a break due to its steepness from ground to summit.

They build Alison up as this heroine and I just keep thinking a hero is not selfish or narcissistic. Sadly this is how I see her and all those who give up families to pursue their dream... With all that being said, I do not walk in Alison's shoes so it is not for me to pass judgement on her choices. Her choices were not my choices. And what a sad ending...
@sheilabloom6735

Stop calling them brave! These are people with a lot of disposable income and an ego so big it overrode basic survival instinct. Sherpas are brave because they do this to feed their family. The others are just a-holes.

Unless these climbers are doing their climbs backwards, blind, without arms and legs and all to raise money for some worthy cause, they hardly deserve the title "hero" - as the narrator often referred to them. In fact, many who die/get into serious trouble had no right being on K2 and such peaks to begin with. Many are unqualified, spoiled, trust-fund babies who, when they wind up stuck, hurt or dead, put the lives of others at risk trying to save them/recover their corpses. Zero sympathy - just leave these peaks to the qualified Sherpas.

You sure use the word Conquering a lot. I don't know a single mountaineer who has climbed since the 60's until now who would say they conquered the mountain. The mountain was there 1000 generations before any of us were born and 1000 generations after we are all dead it will still be there. Nobody is conquering the mountain only their own self perceived limitations. To say otherwise is disrespectful.

WTF Why do you try to make these people out as heroes? For gods sake that Alison gal had two young kids now without a mother. As far as I’m concerned she abandon them for this more than a little dangerous so called sport. One in four people die attempting this climb and she has young kids that need a mother. Obviously she must not have been much of a mother. Here’s an idea. Try playing Russian Roulette next time. Your odds are better! Call it as it is. Selfish neglect when it effects other people and it always does in some way, shape or form!
