Polynesians found Fiji before the Melanesians until the Melanesians came in huge numbers (for an unknown reason, perhaps a volcanic eruption forced them out) and eventually, the Polynesians spread out into Tonga and Samoa, then the rest of Polynesia was shaped. Although, to say "samoans originated from Fiji" is not really true, as ancient Polynesians arrived from South East Asia hundreds of years before finding Fiji.

I was curious about the history of the Fijians as Ratu Mara was explaining and to see what science can explain to me . I google searched : The DNA admixture of the Fijians: it said Asian and 30% Melanesian. Fijians are therefore Austranesians because of DNA(blood) ,linguistically and traditions. Fijians were the first Polynesians.

Rt mara was an unelected prime minister during this time. he lost the general election in 1987 and Sitiveni Rabuka overthrow the elected government lead by Dr Bavadra and put Rt Mara back to prime minister. If Rt Mara was that well educated he should have turn it down but the greed for power has done so much damage to Fiji. We fjians are now complaining about the 2006 coup by Frank Bainimarama but we seems to forget about 1987.
