Happy Castlevania Season 4 Release Eve!!!!!!!! Since I'm basically going to be bingeing the entire thing at midnight lmao I figured I'm just gonna drop this a bit early before I vanish from existence ahaha. I AM SO SAD THIS IS THE LAST SEASON! But so hoping this means a future Richter spinoff or a Leon spinoff, or heck just do a series on every Belmont from now until kingdom come so I can have Castlevania TV in my life forever and ever. At the very least there now finally exists in Western animation an accurate, cool, badass Trevor Belmont, so we don't have as our only lasting legacy Captain N's Simon Belmont, which we 80s kids have been trying to forget for years. LOL
So this arrangement gave me so much trouble for over a year omg. I absolutely LOVE this theme so much, it's just so groovy, I originally wrote it jumbled up with Tower of Mist, since it's the same melody, then decided both themes deserved their own separate treatment. Tower of Mist came together first, as you all know, since it's more of a classical waltz type thing. This one though omg!! It's got this really cool funky bass and a swing beat and has this sort of 4/4 and 3/4 ambiguity that's just so awesome, but so challenging to translate to just solo piano. I went through like 50 drafts before thinking if I just made a kickass bass line the rest would fall into place. I don't know if it actually DID lmao....but oh well haha. Here's the result, I hope it's okay.
Ideally I would have liked to have done this before Tower of mist because in my mind it's always the area in the game you hit before going into the tower, so I always hear a sort of natural transition in my head for Marble Gallery then Tower of Mist but better late than never I guess.
Re: FFT piano collections - bad news about Staff Credits. We might have an Antidote type situation on our hands LOL where it gets delayed for ages because I hate everything I'm doing with it. Rest assured I'm doing everything I can to get it to a decent place!! Thank you all so much for your patience and encouragement, truly, I know all I do is write all this stuff from 20+ year old games because I'm a grumpy old lady and that's where my heart is, so it's really heartwarming to find people like you all who love them as much as i do. Thank you, thank you all so much!!!!
Speaking of classic games, next cover will coincide with a remaster of a certain 90s Square Enix JRPG coming out in June. I legit SCREAMED when the news dropped. Seriously the last thing I expected and I could not be more thrilled omg!! I've been meaning to do so many covers from this game, and I'm just way overdue, I love it so much.

Honestly, this is just beyond great. I think I've commented on other videos of your covers but, my god, ''great'' doesn't cut it. You somehow always manage to preserve and do justice to the original sound, style and character of the original piece, but your renditions always manage to bring out something special that didn't appear to be there before. Your command of dynamics and awesome harmonic twists is so freaking satisfying to listen to, it's always a joy to pick these apart and try to see what you're doing. A lot of these songs from SOTN have a classical or classical-inspired edge to them, but you somehow manage to grab these compositions and drag them all the way over the finish line, into the realm of what seems like serious concert-grade music (not to be a snob and write off the originals as just ''game music'' of course, but theres something serious to be said about your reworking abilities, specially as it relates to your instrument, and the really piano-specific language that you adapt the songs into) A lot of your stylistic choices and the little add-on codas you come up with to end these tracks seem SO classical in nature to me, and jeez, its just awesome to see an interpretation coming from someone with this kind of musical background and language in their head haha. Basically, you don't see or hear this much on youtube. Sorry for the huge comment, but I've been watching these for some time, and had all this on my mind for a while hahaha. Thanks for all your amazing work

omg!! Thank you for listening to my stuff for so long and taking the time to write such a thoughtful and insightful compliment, honestly, this means SO much to me, as I try to somehow channel my love for the game and the OST when my field of discipline may not necessarily be the most suitable, though as you so very astutely pointed out the SOTN OST has the benefit of hitting that space where metal and classical have an unlikely overlap, so it's incredibly satisfying to arrange. It does get challenging with tracks with a harder groove like Marble Gallery, Wandering Ghosts, and in particular I have been stuck on Crystal Teardrops because that booty bass is SO important to that one and I'm just like...HOW DO I REPLICATE THIS VIBE!??! LOL! But to leave it out entirely just because it doesn't fit to what a piano can do is unacceptable to me lol, it's just too integral to the feel of the track. So conundrums like that are always intriguing problems to work around. I still have a lot to learn and wish I could things better, but at the end of the day I am so happy that SOTN fans like you feel that my adaptations reflect the spirit of the original and the game, that's really all I want in the end. ❤️ Thank you so, so much again for the encouraging words! It really made my day!

oh man those Owl Knights! When you killed their owls I actually felt a LITTLE bad for them lol...and Yorick haha! the SOTN enemies are just some of my favorites ever, the bestiary is so incredibly macabre and leans into so much classic vampire lore and a host of Biblical references like Salome and Beelzebub. Love how the Scarecrow is an impaled man on a stick and Grandfaloon/Legion is def one of the most disturbing bosses I've ever fought. now you're making me want to start a new game lol

I didn't even play SotN that much for the soundtrack to give me a lasting impression, but I loved every second of this. There is something about Castlevania music that makes it really suitable for piano arrangements, and *your* piano arrangements never disappoint me.
