@waynedieleman27896 жыл бұрын
Hi Joan, you can use acrylic ink but without the blending solution. Blending solution is only usefull in combination with alcohol ink. But acrylic ink and even acrylic paint you can combine with mediums like from Liquitex.

Thank you Wayne! Great tutorial! A couple of questions: It seems that perhaps the dye ink pad re-inkers might work for the dye ink portion of the process?? What do you think about that? Also does the Japanese paper that you use have the soft almost fuzzy texture on the back of it and if yes how do you color that? I have some Japanese paper like that to use up but I would like to have both sides of the paper colored. Thank you so much for your help! I just found you!
@waynedieleman2789 Жыл бұрын
You can use re inkers with dye ink. All dye ink will work I suppose. The Japanese paper I always use has one smooth surface. I don't know if you can use both sides with thin Japanese paper. Heavier paper will work.

I would have liked to see marbling, too. Also wish you'd answered the previous questions about DYE ink. Are Distress reinkers OK? I don't want to ruin my gel plate.

Jackie sorry I'm so late with my reaction. You can use Distress reinkers to of course. Don't worry about your Gelliplate, it can have much I have noticed.

Im always happy to see dudes creating too, I love it. I was bit scared for your nice shirt - especially the sleeves - but you didnt get a drop on in! For more traditional marbling with alcohol inks, just use hand sanitizer; a good (thick-ish) layer on the plate, then inks and you can manipulate them exactly like when marbling the traditional way (just dont use sharp tools with gel plate!). I liked all your prints, but the ricepaper ghostprint one was magical. Dankje well (sorry, Im just assuming youre from NL by your accent..) and greetings from Finland. -Jane

For those asking here,, DYE BASED inks are water soluble in a shellac base such as Windsor Newton calligraphy or drawing inks. I suppose they create a barrier on the gel plate before you add the alcohol inks over top. I don't know which brand he is using though.....I really liked the 'ghost print' he made with the Japanese paper.
@waynedieleman27896 жыл бұрын
Thanks.
@caseyslove4 жыл бұрын
Karmakat59 You can also use re-inkers designed for use with water based ink pads.
@janecameron74985 жыл бұрын
I presume the dye inks you are referring to are the re-inkers for distress, distress oxide and the archival ink pads. I also wondered if it would work with FW inks? I will play with all these and see what happens. Perhaps when you are making your videos you could show the bottles or pads to the camera, then everyone knows what you are using. Thanks for this video, great ideas.
@waynedieleman27895 жыл бұрын
Yes Jane, they are the Distress re-inkers. You can always try FW.

Didee, there are several dye ink brands. One of them is Distress Ink from Ranger. Ranger has also a brand called Distress Oxide. Its a mix of dy ink and pigment ink.
@caseyslove4 жыл бұрын
You can use any black dye ink. Dye ink is water soluble. You can use an ink refill that’s meant for re- inking your water based ink pads.
