Marbula One: Hivedrive GP Qualifying (S1Q4) - Marble Race by Jelle's Marble Runs

Welcome to the 4th Qualifying session of the Marbula One! (Marble Race, F1 for marbles)! This weekend, our racers will have to master the course of the Hornets, the Hivedrive which includes a Gravitrax part! Held in a time trial format, the qualifying will determine the starting grid for tomorrow's Race. AFTER THE PREMIERE this will become just a normal video!
NOTES:
- We will do a fix on the conveyor belt after this race to avoid dangerous situations and injuries.
- The name "Marbula One" is copyright protected, we reached out to the F1 trademark department and they were nice enough to assure there will not be any problems with us using the name. We are NOT associated to Formula 1 or its teams in any way.
- S1Q4 in the title means Season 1, Qualifiers 4.

I have a feeling we are going to see lapped marbles coming into play tomorrow. That hive section is brutal if you aren't perfect. Such a technically demanding track, I love it.

Once you add in the traffic the hive is going to be chaos. The slightest bump could lead to multiple seconds lost. This one could come down to the final lap.

After watching the qualifying, I am convinced the race will be decided by the marbles that better negotiate the "hexagon": the lenght in the middle of the circuit where there is a slowing section. If a marble can cross it on top of the "booster" path, in the middle of it, then it has a good chance of gaining time in relation to its opponents. Also, it has to travel through it on a straight line, so as not to fumble near the end zone (watch at 5:29, pulsar loosing its gains because it started going erratically near the end of the hexagon). My favorite O'Rangers (4:10) had a great run: watch how smoothly he negotiated all the curves, plus he kept straight at the booster section. Very very happy. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Rangers!

The small part of the split section after the last turn is terrible for the qualifiers as it slows them down but tomorrow it will really let them push forwards without a crowd. The race will be exciting!!

No, these 16 teams will all go to season 2, then we will add Marbula 2 so promoting / relegating will be done after season 2.

Thoroughly approve of a long finishing straight. The previous layouts didn't allow last second overtakes, but this track has all the ingredients for an absolutely cracking race!
