Flyers fan, instant tears. When a player embodies everything a city stands for, and becomes part of the whole, that moment was bigger than the sport itself.

Certain moments like this transcend the logo on the chest, like when Philly gave a standing ovation for Mario, and when Pittsburgh gave a standing O for Oskar Lindblom. That element of shear appreciation for the athletes seems to run deeper in hockey than in any other sport.

Anyone who's familiar with Fleury and his personality and everything he's done for the Penguins and the entire organization know what kind of man he is. Fleury was always the kind of person who quietly led this team with his always positive outlook and happy go-lucky personality. He meant the world to Penguins fans, he meant a lot to the organization, and he'll always remain in the hearts of Pittsburgh. Not even including what all he accomplished as a Penguin, he's just a wonderful person to all his teammates, all his competition and everyone who's grown to admire the guy. He'll always be a legend in the city of Pittsburgh and he just might carve himself a place in Las Vegas lore at this rate. I don't know if the Penguins will ever beat the Knights so long as Fleury is in net. I just think his larger than life personality will stop the Penguins from ever winning against him, lol. And to me, it'd be fitting in a way. Fleury was always that kind of guy who tried so hard, worked so hard and yet could laugh it off when things went bad. Any time when things went right, he was appreciative and never seemed to take it for granted. He's a once in a life time personality that is so rare today, and the city of Pittsburgh was unbelievably lucky to have him for the time he was there. I'd bet most fan bases would give a lot to have a goalie who not only was great in net, but great in life too. Just a special guy who's genuinely earned all the love and adoration he gets from Pittsburgh fans. It was oh so bitter sweet when he left, and it'll always be bitter sweet when he returns, but he also deserves a starting job and if this were a perfect world, he'd never had worn a jersey other than the Penguins'. Keep kicking ass in Vegas, Flower. You were too good for Pittsburgh, and the hole you left might never truly be filled.

He wasn’t too good for Pittsburgh. It was a match made in heaven. This will always be his home. I think his heart will always lie here. He did so much more than play hockey during his time here. We all loved him so much, and still do. It’s a shame that we couldn’t keep him. Personally, I think it could have been a mistake. I know Murray is very talented and definitely helped us get the cup, but Fleury was such a huge part of this team. It’s bittersweet seeing him on our ice again. Though this time, in a different jersey. 😕

Watched this numerous times. What this tribute needs is a warning. DON'T WATCH IN A PUBLIC PLACE!!. I did. Wasn't a pretty sight. 😭

Best NHL tribute. Not a Pens/Vegas fan...but I love that guy. Pretty tough to hate him

They all love him. Even when he was a penguin for 14+ years, the fans still appreciate him and he’s the most loved goalie in the league. (I think)

I once was on the same flight to Houston as Marc Andre fleury. He was with his family so I was too scared to talk to him but I was 3 feet away from him getting off the flight. He’s been my idol since I was a kid watching every game of the pens.
