In this hard-hitting video, Marc "Animal" MacYoung shows you the grim reality of floor fighting and reveals the secrets of being off your feet, on your ass, but still in control. MacYoung also shows you why commonly taught grappling techniques that work fine on a mat can spell disaster in a back alley or on a barroom floor.

After fully watching this video, I now understand why the Gracie family were so dominant in the martial arts scene back then.

Seems liked a nice instructor. Is that martial art called "Animal"? A shame his class is not next to my street. Thanks, uploader ;)

This is a bunch of b.s. the likelihood of finding yourself in any of these situations is very slim. If you do, you are likely an idiot. I wonder how much grappling experience, if any, this guy has. The little bit that he displays is completely false as he explains it.

@@gustotron I agree completely. His awareness and avoidance stuff very good, but this stuff is pretty terrible. The choke defense stuff was decent, but the rest is very questionable.

In Judo every once in a while we had a drill where you have to throw multiple people that were going at you. Eventually we all figured out its gonna be faster if you go to them and not wait around.

and in the real world those people would gang up on you and stomp your skull into the ground.. I didn't believe it until I saw it just the other night

@@DareToWonder Nah, it's not really about expertise or experience. It's about being out numbered and the limited competition context that ALL martial arts exist in. I like Martical Arts and have practiced them in the past, but i don't really believe that it's smart to get into fights or train expecting a fight.. because the worst lessons you can learn about your Martial Arts training on the streets is: 1 when you use it, and it works or 2 when you use it and it doesn't work.

@@qazmko22 there is a diffremce between being assaulted and assaulting. No one can train to respond to be assaulted since so many things can happen you are not in control off. This is true whether you are one guy or a group. If you can slam a guy to the pavement im less than 3 seconds his buddies are not gonna do him any help. A throw takes less than a second on average and thats agianst someone who knows the in and out of it.
