Freddie Mercury's voice isn't exactly the kind of thing you can replicate. There is no way he tries to sound like Freddie while singing so great. He's an incredible singer!

I think aside from the difference in the voices, Marc and Freddie sing with different techniques as well. This changes the texture of the song. Not disputing that Marc is a great singer, of course.

One of the saddest reasons Queen didn't go with him is because he's exactly that... good at sounding like Freddie. Adam Lambert is shite and it was a shame for all Queen fans that the band overlooked Marc. Even on this video he admits that he hasn't rehearsed or performed the song in a while, as it was an impromptu request on a livestream. Unless you mean "hides the effort to sound like Freddie", which in that case, there's no hiding it. His bandmates have shared on multiple occasions that Marc doesn't "try" to sound like Freddie, it just comes out like this. "Do or do not, there is no try."
