@lindamcleod8873 жыл бұрын
A couple of punctuation points. There is no apostrophe in 1970s, no matter what your English teacher taught you. It is a simple plural. This also applies to items such as CDs and DVDs. Secondly, a very fine and largely unknown punctation rule is the dot after an abbreviation. The dot is used when the abbreviation ends in a letter that differs from the full word. For example, etc. or co. So, no dot for St or Ave. I hope you take these corrections in the spirit in which they were intended. There’s a reason why English is the hardest language to learn. 👍

@@stantheman9072 That was barely even a half-hearted attempt at moving your goalposts. The head of state (monarchy, republic, theocracy, dictatorship, whatever) is the head of the state, not the head of a subset. (And anyway why would you, Stan, get to decide which subset? Why not the largest? The oldest? The most Westward? It is arbitrary, and highlights the nonsense that it would be to pretend that some part of a state is the state.)
