He compared it to if one has a bad Father , that the father doesnt cease to be his father. We must pray to God for a Catholic Pope who follows the teachings of the Catholic Church. Of course you can and must. Most of the lies of the sedevacantists are compiled by Novus Ordo Watch which is a blog run by Mario Derksen who is an acolyte of Fr Cekada. Saint Vincent of Lerins, in Commonitory, teaches that one MUST cling to Tradition and resist all novelties. @@midlifecrisis6967 Not to mention that he even celebrated the Novus Ordo in the early days of it's promulgation (1969-1971), but stopped because he began to realize that the new council (which he indeed had signed) and the new mass (which he indeed once celebrated, and yes that is a correct term when addressing the Novus Ordo, aka the "Celebration of the 'Mass'") were irreconcilable with Tradition. He's not perfect, but in the end he fulfilled his vow as a Priest and as a Bishop of the Church, for he defended the Mass and the Sacraments and the Priesthood so that they may continue, at least until restoration is achieved. God willing, that day is closer and closer as time moves on. God rest Archbishop Lefebvre's humble soul.

I was confirmed by His Grace Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and blessed personally by John Paul ll. It was a strange experience being blessed by John Paul ll because I thought only of Archbishop Lefebvre during the blessing. I know which person was closer to the Catholic faith and it was the French Archbishop. Still John Paul ll did truly care for the disabled and was opposed to abortion. Unfortunately he also was wrong in his actions at Assisi in October 1986. Hopefully he repented of it just before he died.

The only problem is that, as you say, Bishop Lefebvre tended to be "all things to all men" and because of his continual "zigzagging", we have the nightmarish situation his SSPX finds itself in today: scission into 2 groups, viz. the "soft-liners" awaiting the imminent granting of a "Personal Prelature" by Frank Bergoglio, and the "hard-liners" under the leadership of Bishop Williamson rejecting any accord with "Rome" yet already split up into various factions! What a mess these non-sedevacantists are in, all due to Bishop Lefebvre's hesitations and lack of form doctrinal leadership!

If you say that the un-ordained can take the Holy Eucharist in the hand, you're an Anathema (cursed by God, outside the Church). If you say that the Holy Sacrifice of the Roman Mass can be said in the local vernacular, you are an Anathema. If you say that the Holy Mother Church is not the one true Church, established by Jesus Christ, and that there are other churches, you're an Anathema. The Popes since Paul VI have said these things! Ah, the Bad Dad argument -- an old but dumb Lefebvrist analogy. Human fatherhood is based on a physical fact that cannot be changed. Your father was always your father and always will continue to be your father. His authority over you is private authority and is dominantive. The acquisition of papal authority is based on conditions laid down by divine law and by human ecclesiastical law. A man who is your pope was one's not your pope and after he dies will cease to be your pope. His authority over you is based on public authority conferred upon him by Jesus Christ and his jurisdiction.

Yes. And if you consider it from a practical standpoint even you feel that way. If you have a father who has neglected you from the moment he became your father, you have, in practicum, no father. Ask any person who has been abandoned at birth. The father they recognize (because he has taken upon himself the duties and therefore the responsibility and authority) is the person who has been there present in their lives. It is the person who raised them. I agree the bad dad analogy using a biological standpoint is a bad one. The title of "pope" is not a consequence of biology. I get the concept that is trying to be conveyed but you have to make the analogy an equal one. If you're going to use the bad dad argument you have to ignore biology because even secularists make a distinction and can recognize it. A human father can abdicate from the role of "dad" and therefore loses the rights and recognized fealty due to him by his child, by no fault of the child. Those rights will go to the person who actually takes on the duty. The person there will be given the title and authority of "dad" while the bio-dad will be affectionately titled "sperm donor" or "bio-dad". These are not terms of endearment but merely a technical differentiation.

I sincerely think, as Fr. Cekada says, that this bad dad argument is not fitting at all. I would say a master-servant analogy is more appropriate to clearly define the kind of relationship that exists between the papacy and God. It must be clear to all, that the pope is first and foremost the servant of Truth, who is God. He cannot be called a true servant of his máster if he clearly works against his máster. So before we look at our relationship with the Pope, we must first look to the relationship that makes this secondary one possible. If he is the visible representativr of God, he must always act as God for us, who can not deceive nor lead us to error. The new CCC was explicitly made to promulgate the pastoral innovations of Vatican II. It's in the foreword even. There was no intention of delivering clear or authentic doctrine. It was more like "what the party says now about how things stand, but tomorrow it may be different". And it already is.

He zigzagged all the time, on this and countless other issues. But, as I also said, by purpose was to shoot the hot air out of Salza/Siscoe/SSPX's current campaign to demonize sedevacantism. For Lefebvre, it was a tenable position for a Catholic to hold, and he himself said many things to support it.

Excellent points all! Excellent video, once again. As to Abp. Lefebvre's zig-zaging, this was the product of his (and everyone's then and there at Ecône) of the fact that the Vatican leaders are not popes in any sense of the word and furthermore would not become popes merely by repenting of their heresies and becoming Catholics. So he was thinking (as did many) that all Paul VI (or those coming after) would need to do is simply repent and function as a true Pope and then it would be so. To encourage this Lefebvre would profess submission to the Vatican leader like a soft-liner whenever the Vatican leader behaved in a manner (more or less) consistent with that of a real Catholic Pope, and would stand firmly against his errors like a hard-liner whenever the Vatican leader would do or say something no Catholic Pope would ever be even capable of doing or saying owing to infallibility and all that infallibility implies. Lefebvre was trying to be like the good parent who praises the child when the child is good but also punishes the child when the child is bad. But for those in the seminary who aren't following closely whatever was going on in pseudo-Rome, it must have been a real roller coaster ride.

Is it sure a softliner or a midliner would necessarily land on accepting and not too much resisting Bergoglio now? I know it can be scary, but read the signs of the times. For 60 years Rome has been teaching, in word and deed, things that have been previously condemned by the Catholic Church. A few examples: freedom of religion, false ecuminism and collegiality. Study the inconsistencies. Read 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2. Do these things before you accuse this priest. When you figure it out - let me know.
