Real or not, I feel like they're really good friends. As someone who has studied and worked in theater and film, these things require a sort of genuine connection between actors. You can easily see if they're comfortable doing this or not. Even if this is all just fan service, it takes a whole deal of trust to pull this off without it looking "fake". They exude chemistry through them being mutually comfortable with each other.

The chemistry is truly unmatched. For ONCE I can actually agree and possibly believe that these actors have genuine feelings for each other (I don't mean romantically, even as just good friends). They're very natural in their acting and "fan service" (no I am not naive enough to think that all the hugging, cuddling, etc. is just by coincidence and not for the intention of cameras and fans). Regardless of the fact that some of it is absolutely just fan service, it still comes across very genuine and fun for both of them. There's way too many fans who literally SHIP any BL couple and it's honestly just kind of sad. I've seen the series first and then i read the novel too, and let me tell you something, i love the novel more than the series. Yibo and Xiao Zhan comunicate their feelings through their eyes and sometimes the story becomes a little dry even tho is just two of them. But if you read the novel is purely GOLD. Not sure if they were ever REAL bfs, but at that time, these two definitely loved eo ALOT!!! As a closeted gay man myself who dated on the DL for almost a decade, in my opinion they definitely had tells they actually liked eo more than “bros”. Also their falling out & how awkward things are now are between them, for me indicative that they indeed had something going on between them. From strangers to lovers back to strangers again. Probably the best off screen chemistry I’ve seen besides the UWMA cast. They are so freaking cuddly! You can tell they are very close friends. You are right. Mew can create chemistry with anyone. Gulf was really cold at first but now cause Mew is consistent, gulf is now more soft and receptive to his touches, kisses and hugs. It's beautiful.

No, actually Gulf already broke up with his girlfriend before TT the series aired. Gulf already confirm that 2 times in the interviews. What I know is they still have good relationship even after they broke up and then after Gulf become famous, the ex gf aploud their photo maybe she wanted to get back together with Gulf but sadly this is just made the fans so angry and starting harassed the girl after knew about the truth (of course at first everyone thought she is really Gulf's GF but Gulf confirmed) and of course Gulf as the sweetest boy, help his ex and asked the fans to stop harassed her although she do that to him
