if its a hybrid orange it may never be like the parent tree though, make sure its a heirloom citrus
@Itried20takennames7 ай бұрын
Yeah…..it might, but as said, some fruit plant seeds don’t grow “true to seed”….you could take 10 seeds from the same orange, and some will produce fruit like the parent trees, some more, some less, but some will grow but not fruit. 3 feet is likely still early, and still might if not this year.

I live in New England, I finally got a Meyer Lemon Tree, I've had it for 4months, I transplanted it because it was growing out of the container it came in, Now its outside during summer, seems to grow more branches instead of fruit, this tree/bush means a lot to me because lemon is my favorite spice/flavoring. AND Now lemons are nearly a $1 !!! Screw that! I grow my own food, only eat meat from our neighbor/farmer down the road. Plant your own food folks ! it's not complicated, ask questions, people are always there to help.

@@ayanbossyt7536 your soil may not be the right type for your tree and It most likely needs supplementing. Just because it's in the ground, it may be still lacking in the minerals it needs, Try to get some 5-54-5 fertilizer. here's another thing to consider Maria,, your plant grown from seed? which variety is it. If its a hybrid strain, you dont know which fruit you will be getting. The only way you an be sure is if its a graft from proven lemon or from a air layered tree from the mother plant. There is no greater joy than raising a citrus tree from a seed and seeing your first blossoms.. then days later you see the little tiny fruit fall off Boo Hoo!!! It happens all the time..

Thank you so much for going through the steps and requirements. My 3 year old Meyer lemon put off 2 blooms this year. It's the first time it's bloomed! My 3 year old Key Lime has not yet bloomed. It went through a pretty severe leaf drop after spending winter inside. It's produces SO many new leaves this spring. I hope next year will be it's year.
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
great ,,, the leaf drop is caused from shock , aka change of temperature, humidity and light. They will come back quickly. Lime tree, from seed?? If its from seed, patience is the name of the game, I may be a couple of years yet before it blooms. Otherwise, if its grafted or from cutting, it is the same age as the mother tree and simply fertilize with Citrus-tone by Espoma, water it thoroughly once a week. Deep Water until the water runs out the bottom of the pot. Treat each week with a good anti-insecticide ( all Natural ) Aza Tek Plus is highly recommended. ( Ebay) . Remember each different kind of citrus has different blooming seasons. Right now our Calamondin and limes are blooming out, while the Meyer lemon will start pushing out late summer.

My Meyer/Keylime also had leaf drop this last winter so badly I thought it may die also due from being inside. Now it’s prettier and larger than ever. Just re-potted and teasing the root bound ball about two weeks ago and have had probably 6 inches of growth since. I’m hoping it will flower soon even though it’s about four feet tall.

Another 3 not opened yet and one im not sure yet coz it looks like there is something thick in the middle but not sure what that is coz it looks like some rounded yellow thing protuded out. Any reason or idea why there is no stigma production in the flowers? I fertilized every week with organic fertilizer 555 and 888 alternate weeks. Black soldier fly frass sometimes cricket frass. And some fruits peels burrier into d soil. With added plant compost once in a couple of months. Age of plant is 2 and half yrs old i think.

hi there, Check your plants roots. If it is rootbound it will not take up nutrients, thus the yellowing of leaves is one of the reasons, could be many things but you start with the easiest thigs first, Fertilize it now. Citrus are heavy feeders, they want nutrients badly. Citrus tone and Mg is great. If you repot add some compost to your mix as well. good luck!

If you're sure its nutritional and other needs have been met, grafting could be one option. Essentially attaching a branch from a different lemon tree, it'll actually grow the fruit from that tree. It's possible for seed grown lemons to never produce fruit, and the fruit they produce will almost certainly not match the original tree. Pruning could also help, have you pruned it?

it sounds like a fertilizer problem, try using compost, worm castings and maybe check your soils pH

my lemon tree is going yellow very pale I've given it marvel and npk it has very tiny lemons on it I water it a lot and has drainage holes would it have too much water
@marcelinanoss88255 ай бұрын
there are question that i would have,, did you fertilizer too much , too often, do you water it every day and how much? Does it get enough light , is the pH of you soil correct,, so many questions to ask that i dont have the answers for without seeing it and testing different qualities, Its sort of like you telling you pediatrician your child is sick and what does he say?? Make an appointment for him. Plants and people are pretty much the same way. and your answer is yes you can give your lemon tree too much water,, too much nitrogen and burn your plant causing yellowing and leaf drop. It could be spider mites as well,, so the best approach is not to do too many things at once,, Id go with the pH first otherwise your plant can never use the fertilizer you are giving it, water it thoroughly once a week unless it is in extreme heat, then twice, but not every day. Check it very well for spider mites immediately, these are ninja killers of your plant, its dead before you know what hit it, hope this gives you a good head start

I have 5 citrus trees in the ground. They get sun most of the day. They are 5 years old. The first year they flowered but failed to set fruit. I fertilized and pruned and gave compost. The trees are huge but have not flowered in 4 years. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
OK,, FIRST , RUN A pH test on your soil. Where r u located?? Sandy soil? Bingo, there's your first problem if it is. Citrus likes acidic soil 6.5. Next, when's the last time you fertilized them, Once ever 6 months is recommended. Use a good citrus fertilizer. 10 - 12 hours of sunlight each day as well. If you dont have good soil, you'll have to amend it with compost and a good rich loamy soil. then, still nothing? drench your citrus with a high phosphorus fertilizer like a 0-5-20

@@marcelinanoss8825 we have sandy loam soil. It’s naturally acidic. My roses thrive in it. I use espoma citrus tone fertilizer twice per year and cover from the trunk to the drip line with compost. I just can’t figure it out. I just bought two more citrus, a pink eureka and a clementine. I don’t want them to fail to flower as well. I live in zone 9b. Our weather can be extremely hot in the summer. I’m wondering if they are getting water stressed. Would that prevent flowering?
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
it sounds like you are doing everything right. How often are you watering them? Take a moisture meter probe and insert it into the ground as deeply as you can . If it is dry, that could very well be your problem. Underwatering will prevent blooming. too much water isnt good either . Soak your roots once a week, no more :)
@southernparadise9896 Жыл бұрын
@@marcelinanoss8825 it’s probably not enough water. We’ve had drought conditions the past few summers. I’ll install drip line on a timer and see if that works. And yes, I will get a moisture meter. Thank you so much. 😊

fertilize it with an all around fertilizer, 20-20-20 and repot each year with new soil. give it plenty of room for the roots, and be patient.

Hi, l grew a sweet citrus plant in a big pot but lately l found that my plant leaves appear to be very dry and some of the leaves dropping too. I watered my plant twice a day, dispice some leaves dropping my plant produced flowers but sadly it does turn into fruits. Kindly please advice tq.
@marcelinanoss88257 ай бұрын
ouch,, twice a day is way too much water, be careful you'll end up with root rot.. one good thorough watering a week is sufficient unless you are in a hot arizona temp. then you will need to water once more per week, simply stick your finger al the way into the soil, if there is moisture on your finger, dont way until its completely dry. Also keep a check on your pH,, 6.0 to 6.5 and give it a good phosphorus fertilizer.

without a plant autopsy its nearly impossible to tell what happened, It could have been overwatering, fungus gnats attacking the roots, spider mites pH imbalance.

Can you go to a doctor and tell him over the phone and say, I dont feel good, whats wrong with me doc?? You have to go in for tests right? Plants are the same thing. Give me all the info such as leaf conditions type of soil, pH ? hours of sunlight? watering? fertilizing? so much to know without seeing a plant.

My calamansi is over 3 years already but not bearing fruit. It has big thorns. They say it is male. What do you think is the problem?
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
make sure you are watering it with pH water between 6.0 and 6.5 other wise will not take up nutrients even if you are fertilizing it. Use Citrus-tone fertilizer by Espoma. Keep pests off of it. Check for spider mites.
