@@gallosrhys8407 This is my personal opinion on this entire finale - all the judges pretended as if they thought it was Marcelito who chose the song. As you can see from their commentaries (the 3 judges excluding Simon), all pointed out that Marcelito chose a right song (to make the hype even higher), where in fact deep in their hearts, they know how AGT works, Come on judges, you work for AGT, it is impossible that you don't know how AGT works! I mean, these 4 judges already know it was AGT who chose the song, and they kept on saying it was Marcelito. The theory is, three judges will point out that Marcelito chose the right song himself and then one judge will disagree that it was not the right song. They need to be consistent, all 4 of them, to say that it was Marcelito who chose the song, but only one will disagree about the song selection. This created the buzz because if all of them will like the song, it is not as interesting as it would have been. The entire drama was created. That is my theory and my personal take on this entire finale.

This was not the original song he sang during the finals recorded in October. There’s a rumor Marcelito was asked to come in the US to again re-record another song for the finals, which is Beauty and the Beast. The original song he sang in the recorded finals last October is a different song which was chosen by Simon. Don’t know why all of the sudden they decided not to air it, and asked him to re-record another song, which now appears as the final song. Maybe because of backlash? Hmm, help me come up a logical explanation on that.

Plus I know of someone who was an audience during the recording. The other thing, this video was released not from AGT, but leaked most likely by an AGT staff based on the quality of the video. So now, if on Monday, AGT will air the original final performance recorded in October, that will be such a scandal.

Here's the deal. There was a leak. AGT tried to keep it hidden that the show was pre-recorded months ago and that Marcelito had lost in the top 5 so they decided to release the final song early. The part of Simon's critique is edited from an earlier critique everyone is saying. Anyway, Marcelito is back home in the Philipians doing interviews with his wife. Simon chose the song so blame him. Marcelito says he wanted to choose a different song bc he really wanted to win. Simon chose the song then threw Marcelito under the bus. AGT as in Simon set him up. Yeah set him up for ratings. That is also what I have heard, they pre recorded the final song last October 2019 but he was called to record it again last week. Not sure if this though unless we hear it from Marcelito himself. My theory is, AGT chose a song that is not suited for the finale so that they can say something that it is not good enough and so the drama will be created and the buzz will be created. It is all about the drama and the rating for people to talk about it

As you can see from their commentaries (the 3 judges excluding Simon), all pointed out that Marcelito chose a right song (to make the hype even higher), where in fact deep in their hearts, they know how AGT works, Come on judges, you work for AGT, it is impossible that you don't know how AGT works! I mean, these 4 judges already know it was AGT who chose the song, and they kept on saying it was Marcelito. The theory is, three judges will point out that Marcelito chose the right song himself and then one judge will disagree that it was not the right song. They need to be consistent, all 4 of them, to say that it was Marcelito who chose the song, but only one will disagree about the song selection. This created the buzz because if all of them will like the song, it is not as interesting as it would have been. The entire drama was created. That is my theory and my personal take on this entire finale.

So many outrage, I will just make a neutral stance on all of this, and just merely focus on your thumbnail, to answer the question there is no wrong or right on the final song choice. Marcelito did great regardless of what you take on all of this, people just have to start realizing that reality shows like AGT thrives on what is hype and in this case it is Marcelito. For me AGT cease being a show about a competition at this point but just a show showcasing great talents all over the world, regardless and who takes the crown this year each of this individual talents got their popularity boosted simply by being on the show.

It was stated,if I'm not mistaken in mgn review, that Simon listens to each song first before the contestants actually use one for the competition. Pomoy himself said on his own KZbin channel that it was Simon who has the last say on what songs to use in the finals. Pomoy doesn't actually like to use Beauty and the Beast but he has no choice.

I totally agree with you Angelo, AGT should have chosen a much more difficult song for the final performance. Obviously, this song is not meant to wow someone, but Marcelito did an amazing professionalism to sing the song beautifully.
