Elizabeth I never ceases to amaze me with how eloquent she was. She must have been scared and unsure if she would survive her imprisonment. How poignant that she was imprisoned in the same place as her mother. And how wonderful that she escaped the same fate. Thank you for all of your hard work and I’ll be tuning in tomorrow!

The Tudors are a good example of the a Old saying "you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family". When I think about them and the way they behaved towards their own blood relatives I do a little shudder.

Yet another informative video, Claire: Thank you! I wonder whether imprisoning Elizabeth in the same place where her mother was locked up was a form of psychological torture on Mary's part? Or was housing her in the same location an indication that Mary was unwilling/unable to house Elizabeth in a commoner's prison cell?
@anneboleynfiles4 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth was a member of the royal family so, like her mother in 1536, needed to be housed in somewhere befitting her status, otherwise it would look bad.

But did Elizabeth really participate in plots against Mary? Or didn't it matter? It seems a lot of people were executed with no proof of wrongdoing, including Elizabeth's mother. Thank you Claire. Happy St Patrick's Day!

@Danielle-mg5lf4 жыл бұрын
Omg 😳 , That must have been terrifying to poor Elizabeth I to go the same exact route her mother took before imprisonment then beheaded. I wonder if Mary I did that on purpose as a scare tactic? Her speeches to those whom arrested her were perfectly thought out showing her intellect (which she must have received from her mother Anne Boleyn). Even to gain sympathy from those men, for one to even offer coat to her. And it was cute and sweet for Courtney to send her flowers 💐. Thank goodness she was given some comforts while in the tower, but I’m sure her mother’s imprisonment and following execution would pop into her head from time to time. I wonder is some of those comforts were permitted by King Phillip II of Spain (Mary I’s husband and consort) as he had a “crush” on her and later after Mary’s death Proposed to Elizabeth?

Maj is a tiny cat. I love the name Runt, how funny! Was he a runt when you got him? Oreo was so skinny when we got him as he and Ari had been found in a rubbish bin with their eyes still closed and had to be bottle fed. He's now a right lump!

🇦🇺🦘 (viewed 14/03/2021) .. I too would have been terrified being taken to the Tower. Whether to the Royal apartments or not, still a prisoner. Thank goodness that Elizabeth had 'her wits' about her during interrogation, and thank goodness that her half-sister, Queen Mary, spared her life, instead Elizabeth being placed under 'house arrest'. Given that Queen Mary had no children, at least (at her death) her half-sister (a Tudor) could take the Crown. Thank you Claire 👑👍

Pepys' diary makes mention of "shooting the bridge". London Bridge was like a mini white water stretch where the river rushed around the structure, and many people would disembark, walk along the Thames, then take the water again after the bridge rather than risk it. This is why the bargemen were so necessary as it was quite dangerous, depending on time of year and time of day.
