Morning Everrett . Good to see the new shop has come together. Moving shop in while setting up a new home and having small children as well, does take time but little by little the project progresses. Work shops are never really finished they have additions and are refined over the years. Look forward to seeing you again doing your stuff.

Gday Everrett, great to see your almost up and running again, I know how you feel with everything going on in the world, I really like the idea of the shelving, you have given me some ideas there but find that type of stuff here at a reasonable price is another story, you have really done an excellent job setting the shop out mate, it all takes time and family life is more important then making videos, thanks very much for the update, cheers

Thanks Matty! The shelving could be built in a similar manner from lumber or bar stock as well, I just had the opportunity to get this stuff for a reasonable price from my favorite auction house. Just thankful it seems to work.

Great to see you again! Thanks for the update. You mentioned your improved lighting, then I saw at 18:21, what looks like fluorescent tubes (FT). Maybe they are the LED replacement type? If not, and I know this would mean more work, but if they are FT, you might want to consider going LED. Either replacement tubes or the whole unit. I did a year ago and would never consider using FT again. The LED are not only much more energy efficient and at the same time are much brighter, but FT dim with time. LED will not. I bought a pack of 10 4 footers online and each might weigh a pound - maybe.
@EverettsWorkshop
@EverettsWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bob! I hear you that many are going to LED now. The thing is that around here the LED tubes are still more money than the fluorescent tubes, and I already had a bunch of fixtures. There are a couple LED lamps in the shop now, one above the lathe, one above the surface plate, and some LED lighting above my desk. Those 3 lamps cost twice what it cost me to get all the rest of the shop lighting installed - fluorescent fixtures up and all using daylight tubes. Might revisit the lighting down the road as tubes fail but for now this got me going affordably.

Thanks Shawn, thankfully the deal was that the shop reno was considered part of the "cost of moving" when we moved, so it didn't have to be completed out of the "shop fun" budget, lol! 😁 Hope you all are feeling better on your end soon!

Thanks Tom, you'd understand the waiting game more than me, for sure! I'm still a stay at home Dad, but to be honest I'm more tired at the end of the day after chasing kids than I was pulling and building transmissions. We'll see as the kids get into school how I can start at least part time back into work. I'm not afraid to work for a living but for a number of reasons my Better Half is the one working outside the house at the moment.

Nice to see that smile on your face once again,,,and looking great. Our main work area of 30 x 30 x 8 once was the kitchen area of the church, and nicely insulated and white walls and ceiling and 40k led lighting that Allen installed (4 runs x 30ft across ) really makes for a bright environment. Lov have you back on the seen and learning more from your skills. I am send an email request today for one of your stickers, and we will be honored to display and support tour channel. Will try to make time to chime in on the ARW, but haave a full time job tending to the Bride during her battle with cancer. I have become to respect her more since I thought house work, and cooking was a piece of cake :)> No true, it's a full time job (@@)!. Bear in Tx.

The only reason I've ever found to "unsubcribe" to anyone was due to garbage/offensive/time waisting content, not to lack of videos. I confident that you will have many subscribers as long as you have a channel. Congratulations on the setup on the nice looking shop. I didn't see a coffee maker tho...maybe when I swing by someday we will have to buzz out to the nearest Tim's?

Lol, thanks, hoping to not waste anyone's time - if I am I'm wasting mine first! Ironically, I have two old coffee makers in the junk pile to strip for parts, but there is a good one in the kitchen. We can either do some home brew when you come by or hit Timmy's either way is good!

Hi Everett nice to hear your news. I agree events are distressing. What model of shaper do you have there ?
@EverettsWorkshop
@EverettsWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul, I'm thankful it's finally coming together here. The shaper is an Alba 1A, my guess is wartime production given the Wartime Emergency Standard sized fasteners and the shapes of some of the parts compared to newer ones. It's not perfect, but I have "had it to bits," as you would say as it needed a lot of TLC when I got it. Just thankful to have one, they're hard to find here now.

Thanks Antal, this is just what I have to work with at the moment, it is now on me to make good use of it and have something to show for myself. Any shop is better than no shop, and I have seen some of the cool work that you have uploaded on your channel too, so please don't take this video as one where I am bragging. There are others who have bigger home shops, more machines, etc. but that doesn't matter. As Rustinox says, as hobbyists, what matters is that we ENJOY our time in our shops!
