your passionate description of sorrow and bliss has made me add it into my list! Wonderful video too!!!

It's such a good book, so nuanced and definitely makes you struggle with the protagonist. If you've ever struggled with mental health, it'll make you sad, make you angry, and give you hope and relief. Loved it

Lots in common this month!! I really enjoyed honey and spice (although I did love love in colour more). Agree it's like dear white ppl! Open Water was one of my fave books of last year and I got to meet Caleb at a book event, he was so lovely. Sorrow and bliss - also on my books of the year list last year, so witty and whilst it was so serious, it also made me laugh out loud so many times. Her sister in my head was the sister in Fleabag. The aunt was just hilarious with all of her snobbery. But such a mix of very serious issues as well. If this is like Coco Mellors, I will love her - I just bought cleopatra and Frankenstein on your recommendation 😊 x

I have had a more open mind to DNF-ing books this year. As I want to enjoy what I'm reading..... plenty more books in the shelf if you don't like what you are reading. Yes, yes please share shows you have been watching. I enjoy different shows and would love to see your thoughts on shows you have watched.

If you liked Sorrow and Bliss i recommend: Maybe you should talk to someone (non fiction, so good), In the dream house (memoir, this is my favourite book of all time but tw for mental health and emotional/physical abuse, not graphic but still a bit heavy), and perhaps a left field recommendation which is a YA, Turtles all the way down (ocd rep)

Hi Nickelle! I have been watching your channel from the start and have loved the content you created. It feels like a lovely peaceful place here and I keep wanting to comment. In the end, I decided to go for it 🙂I don't want to be annoying, but I was wondering if there was a reason you're using Goodreads and linking to your account there. Have you heard of the Storygraph and would you maybe consider switching to it? It's founded by a black IT-savvy woman and led by an amazing little team of book lovers and the product keeps improving genuinely with the reader in mind, which is just AWESOME. Their product is amazing, they are really in tune with their users and keep developing in the right direction. A great alternative for an Amazon owned company ;-) I would love to hear whether you would consider! The SG community is also amazing so you'd fit right in

Oh yeah of course!! 💖 from the top of my head, here’s the UK people I watch: Michelle Reads and Vlogs Debate Bookz, Lyza Blacklore What Rae Reads, Your True Shelf, Jasmine Reads, Savidge Reads, Eric Anderson, Ben Reads Good, Books Nest (Beth) Also you’re so lucky to be living down in Cornwall, absolutely love it! We’re thinking of booking another trip, do you have any areas to recommend? Previously we’ve been to Praa sands, St Ives, Mousehole, Looe, St Neot, Penzance and Porthleven 🫶🏾

@@NickellesNook wow so many great recs, I’ll check them all out later on :) Cornwalls gorgeous (when the weather is good haha) The main place people seem to come is Newquay and Padstow… I prefer the smaller places :) being a local they are less touristy. I personally love the Roseland area, lots of small secluded beaches and coastal walks. We were in Porthleven last week :) the Penrose area near there and walks over to Loe bar lake and beach and gorgeous too! We are on a family mission at the moment to visit every beach and woodland in Cornwall 😛 I think there’s over 500! May take us a while haha

I disliked Sorrow and Bliss. It’s been a couple of years but this is what I said about it: The writing is pretty good but the character is miserable, nothing happens, and it’s dreadfully boring. A slog. This is the first I’ve read of the Women’s Prize for Fiction shortlist and all I can say is this is not a winner.
