The 2nd problem can be solved intuitively (without the mean calculation), as the frequency of the data sets for each corresponding interval is equal, and the difference across every interval is one (20-19, 30-29, 40-39, 50-49).
@Sjdijdhshsjshe Жыл бұрын
Explain more pls
@youyanq Жыл бұрын
@@Sjdijdhshsjshe Basically, the difference between corresponding/matching numbers (numbers w/ smallest difference) in the two data sets is always 1. This means that for every pair of corresponding numbers between the two sets (e.g. 10 and 11) one number is always 1 unit higher (or lower) than the other. If the frequencies are the same for each interval (meaning for every value in one data set there's a corresponding value in the other), then each of these "pairs" contributes equally to the mean difference. Because every pair has a difference of 1 and they all contribute equally, the overall mean difference will be the same as that of any individual pair: 1. Example: You have two bags of apples with the exact same number of apples. If every apple in the second bag is just a little bit heavier (by the same amount) than each apple in the first bag, then when you weigh the bags, the second bag will be heavier by that same little bit, on average (mean). This should work (unless I'm proven wrong) for any time when the intervals remain consistent between the two data sets and the difference between corresponding values in the data sets is the same (regardless of the number). Of course, if the frequencies and/or differences were inconsistent across intervals, this intuitive method wouldn't work, but I doubt that would be on the SAT.

@turtlenation5636 Жыл бұрын
any tips on how you got that high of a score?
@sidsingh9165 Жыл бұрын
@@turtlenation5636 Yeah so I took it again on November and I got a 790. So close to perfection! Anyway yeah so before that I would get like 720'2 on my math sat's so it was doable for me to make that jump. The main thing is to finish the test in time. I would usually spend time checking my answers and not having time to do the other problems so make sure you finish your section first and then go back up and check your answers if you have time so for now just make sure the answers looks right and then move on quickly. You also need a couple math concepts clear which I would recommend to use Khan Academy since they go over every topic on the SAT Math. Now the test itself won't cover all the concepts but Khan Academy will give you a good overview of what to know and expect. Once you have that basic understanding make sure to quickly take some practice tests. The 10 tests released by collegeboard are okay but I would prerfer to do the one's released by SAT QAS since they are more recent and officaly released along with the answers. If you do good on those tests then you should do good on the actual test so make sure to time yourself accordingly and whatever questions you see can be expected on the test. Some concepts like Geometery wihich khan academy goes into isn't as frequent besides trig so don't spend too much time on that. That's mostly all you should know. Just keep practicting, clearning concpets, and taking practice tests. That should help you out quite a bit. There's also a youtube channel you should check out which does some sat math problems: www.youtube.com/@mathster6703. Well that's all I have to say, I hope this helps.

For question 2 we could only just think of the histogram as a graph problem. Look at the graph it just shifted equal units for each bar we can take that as 1 unit and so the difference is 1 unit.

I have some issues with problem 26:If we plot both distributions in a single graph one notices that data B can have values from 10 to 19 with a frequency of 3, however the A graph can have values from 20 to 29 with a frequency of 3 as well. Hence the minimum value of the difference between A and B is 20-19 = 1 , this difference occurs with frequency = 3. Keep doing the same for each frequency i.e., 4,7 and 9; the result will be 23 which is 1*3 + 1*4 + 1*7 +1*9 =23. Now the average of this minimum differences for all frequencies is the sum over 23 samples. Average = 23/23 = 1. This rational makes sense. Yours doesn't. Sorry, good video.

can you explain the reason for multiplying the number of integers between 10 and 20 (3) by 19 and so forth to get the mean. I just added up the largest/ smallest values, 19+29+39+49 and divided by 4 and the same for the other side ofc to minimize the mean so 10+20+30.... ik that theyre the same number of integers that are between 10 and 20 graph B and 20-30 for graph A. so multiplying wouldn't change the smallest difference because theyre both being multipled by the same factor of three, but what if it wasnt like that what if the graphs weren't essentially identical im guessing it wouldnt be okay to leave out the multiplying by the number of integers between 10-20 by the highest number 19, im guessing the multiplication is mandatory for every one of these problems?

Thank you for the video! For question 2 I feel like there's an easier way to do it; can't you just find out that the mean of both sets is just the 12th number since the sets have 23 integers, then whichever interval the 12th number is in you can maximize/minimize the value in their respective date set and subtract it and get the same answer. Just a thought
@JohnSAT Жыл бұрын
the median would always be the 12th number, but the mean wouldn't always be the 12th number. I can see your logic, but I personally wouldn't use it as it's too risky of a move, especially for students aiming for 700+. Appreciate the input!
