Marchettino's Abarth 500 : Tunnel Explosions and Loud Acceleration !

I had a fantastic fun doing the road from Cannes to Monaco with my friend Marchettino, in his Abarth 500, with some mods...
Basically, it's more powerfull and a lot lot lot louder. In town or in tunnels (there are so many between the two cities, it's so great) it makes a fantastic loud sound and even huge explosions when he shifts up !
Arriving in Monaco, he droped me at the Casino Square, where I met Shmee150... He and his Abarth left in a great (loud as you'll se) "good bye".

I have a fiat abarth and i sometimes get the explosions when im shifting up from 1st and second...I love it but its not consistent and usually doesnt happen...do you do anything to get the exhuast to pop?

I drive a 2005 BMW E87 120D atm which has 90.000 km's and is chipped to 170 HP. I know someone who is getting rid of his 2009 Abarth 500 Esseesse which has 60.000 km's and 165 HP. Because he's a friend he'll only charge me 9.000 euro if I buy it, it has leather interior, 17'' inch wheels and a full red exterior. I'm doubting if I should sell my bmw and buy the 4 year younger Abarth, everyone says it's fast and fun, but alot of people tell me it's retardet to sell a 170 HP bmw to then get a little 160 HP fiat... Should I trade my bmw for the abarth? And will I be able to notice a diffrence in the performance? (note: my bmw is a diesel but has more HP and alot more torque), also is 9.000 euro for a 2009, 40.000 mile Abarth essesse a good price? Because he tells me it's a really good price. Thanks in advance for helping me clear my mind and make my descision easier.

The pops are due to the fact he quick shift , the exhaust make is working too but the gear change is a big point .

Bought mine in Canada, so the exhaust system is strait pipe off the cat no muffler or resinator. European models i believe have a "muffler" on them

I had a muffler shop replace the muffler with a 2 inch pipe extension & weld a tip onto that. Sport model, sounds like the Abarth without the turbo noise.

the problem is the big hole in the piston in the future ;) or the burning clutch, because he don't depress the accelerator all the time he shift up!!!

No trick. It may happen in two ways. The first one, when valves are not shut when combustion happens or when unburned fuel is ignited in the exhaust pipes. However, they say it can be a malfunction. I dont care, sounds awesome when that happens.

Se stai davvero attento puoi notare che un attimo prima dello scoppio i giri si alzano di botto per 1 secondo, questo perchè butta giu la frizione di colpo non alzando del tutto il piede dal gas, ma lasciano un filo appena di gas apposta. Se vai sul mio canale vedrai la prova pratica ;) Saluti

Easy Fix Si allora l'auto ha più di 200 cv ha il kit SS quindi Marchettino e partito da 165 cv cambiando mappatura centralina,turbo,intercooler.. la macchina è del 2011

Easy Fix No modificarla in questo modo siccome interferisce moltissimo su prestazioni e performance generali della macchina è illegale nel nostro paese lo sarebbe se non fosse targata e girasse solamente in un circuito chiuso come accade nei Rally WRC.

Some of the comments I have read on this video are really funny haha people saying what that is doing to your pistons that just shows bad tuning its got nothing to do with tuning all that is happening is unburnt fuel is hitting the hot decat pipe causing a backfire lol people these day think they know it all lol try having a corsa opc with a downpipe decat and mid section silencer removal pipe think these pops are good 😁 try getting tripple pops and really loud bangs and flame yes I have a vauxhall corsa vxr which is a opel corsa opc and they sound very nice with a good exhaust system shame the engines are built from choclate but mine hasnt went bang yet at 250hp lol fully forge this year and garrett turbo 450hp here we come from a 1.6 engine lol

He probably has a group N style backbox and custom centrepipe, possibly sports cat too or even decat, that isn't the monza, monza has a variable valve, my SS model has a Group N backbox by magneti marelli, is called the streetrace backbox, magneti is the same company that makes the Monza, but my backbox cost me £300, check out my youtube channel theres a few vids of it on there, its real loud but not overbearing, and it bangs every gearchange up and most downchanges too :D

Ignorante, e perche'?. Semmai l'amico che si diverte con questa scatoletta lo e' .... Il cambio non c'entra niente con le detonazioni, perche' di queste si tratta. E "l'amico" si ritrovera' presto appiedato, o con un pistone bucato, o con la guarnizione della testa bruciata. Un'auto da corsa, o comunque una super car fatta con ben altri materiali, sopporta le sovrapressioni anche se di norma e' sconsigliabile. Ma una FIAT 500 anche se moderna.... I botti in rilascio sono dovuti a sovra pressione nella camera di combustione, e normalmente si risolve il problema anticipando quanto basta l'accensione. In questo caso invece, sia a causa di una pop-off sotto dimensionata che non riesce a scaricare abbastanza velocemente la pressione in rilascio, che di una mappatura fatta coi piedi, o di una pressione troppo alta della sovralimentazione, s'innesca l'auto detonazione. In pratica come nei diesel, l'esplosione nella camera di scoppio sul cielo dei pistoni non avviene a causa della scintilla della candela, ma per eccessiva pressione raggiunta. La trasmissione non c'entra niente...

Easy Fix quello che dici non ha nessun senso e in più quello/a che non ne capisce un cazzo di motori sei tu perchè chiunque saprebbe che non è normale che in una cambiata 2°-3° a 4000 giri nessuna macchina farebbe degli scoppi del genere. questa è una rimappatura della centralina. comunque a fare così a lungo andare si sminchia eccome
