I love seeing how different every school does it. We dont do check and close or act. But thats what makes every school unique in its marching. Each school has a different flare. For us we go from parade rest to attention and yell "RAIDERS!" Before proceeding with our marches. Then when we do a backwards march we HAVE to yell "UP!" and also, counting time is very important, be sure not to forget that. Your left foot should ALWAYS hit on the first and third beat in a 4/4 song, as she was clapping (left, right, left, right would be 1,2,3,4) its very important to remember left foot is ALWAYS first. In everything. When marching. You are rolling your feet, not just walking so your feet should go "Heel, Ball, Toe" when marching. But those are just a few extra tips for beginners! I loved the video

A marching band is an ensemble of instrumental musicians that generally perform outdoors for the purpose of entertainment and sometimes in competition. Instrumentation typically includes brass, woodwinds, and percussion instruments. Most marching bands use some kind of uniform (often of a military style) that include the school or organization's name or symbol, shakos, pith helmets, feather plumes, gloves, and sometimes gauntlets, sashes, and/or capes.

I never got to be in my school's marching band because it was discovered that I had scoliosis. I learned this after the first day of our camp when they kept getting mad at me for not aligning my body correctly in practice moves such as these. That was my last time ever marching because they would not let me anymore. Life moves on and all that but, I still would have liked to have known marching (or Corps) since it always looked fun to me.

This was a good video, some of the things being taught mainly depend on the school you attend. For example, my school's parade rest we have our feet together and it's always left hand over right hand for us. Also, we have as little as possible leg bend during forward marching.

This had really nice tips and explaining! But, i'll admit to laughing at their feet cx We call that pidgeon-toed, even if you're marching straight. Also, I noticed whenever it was pointed out to be leaning a certain way, the marchers would slightly alter their posture in response. :9

practicing with a metronome will give you the best results even though it may feel constricting and time consuming. Start with a slow comfortable tempo and gradually increase by maybe two bpm at a time or so. there are metronome apps and some online that you can use. There was also a really good video I found about finding your internal rhythm. I'll find it and comment again brb
@abby-we5tb7 жыл бұрын
dig your feet to the tempo instead of just trying to walk through it. if you dig your heels in it'll be easier.

Joshua Biddinger You know when you have a pep rally and sometimes (My school does this at least) a bunch of people playing instruments walk down the hall? Or you know when during the halftime of a footbal game a bunch of people come onto the field and play instruments while standing in those formations? Those people are the marching band.

This is not marching. This is walking. Marching is where you bring you leg up to a 90° angle so your thigh is parallel to the ground with your toe pointed down. This is la la corps band walking. The one and only way to march is the traditional high stepping, shoulder swinging marching step
