I went to Marian - Graduated in 1985. Greg Bimm is the greatest influence in my life outside of my parents. If he called me and asked me to do anything, I would be there in an instant. For those who marched at Marian - you know what I mean. For anyone else - I only wish that you could have met this amazing man. PRIDE.

The 1997 and 2000 shows are timeless, they would hold up and would certainly be finals worthy shows in any era.

Definitely not timeless but WINNERS.

I go to Foothill High School, one of the bands chosen to march in the 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Mr. Bimm actually came to Nevada and rehearsed our routine, and everything that is in this documentary is true. He told us that we only get one shot in front of the cameras and 500 million people, but we have every opportunity at practice to make ourselves do better than we did before. He's a very inspirational man. No wonder why Marian Catholic is so amazing. They work hard to compete against themselves, which makes them great. My favorite thing he said after 4 hours of continuous rehearsal was "You're tired. But that's when you can make yourself great. Mediocre bands give up when they're tired, but great bands make themselves greater."

Thanks Briana Brown for defending us. :) . And yea people talk about us but as you see we work extremley hard. We take pride in what we do. Currently I'm a sophmore clarinet. We got 5th at nationals this year. But if anyone ever cones to our rehersal and see how we work then you'll see that this is why we're so good.

I would not be where I today if I had not been in this amazing band. Three great men shaped me into the man I am today, my father, my grandfather, & Mr. Bimm. Discipline, Pride, Hard-work, & the Never-ending Pursuit Toward Excellence are the foundations of what it takes to be successful ANYWHERE. I have never encountered another group or system that is able to mold you so positively the way this family did. Structure and self motivation for the better of the whole. PRIDE

I don't know what is up with that Tracy person. If they were in the band and have the medals to prove it, 1. they don't deserve them and 2. they missed the whole point of being part of such an amazing experience. First of all, you join the band, practice long hours in rain, snow, mud, whatever nature could throw at you because you WANT to. No one forces you to be there, it's not a requirement to graduate or anything. You participate in the MCHS Band because you have a passion for music

@tracyshapiro2 How cruel. I go to Marian currently, and I love the school so very much. I may not be in band, but I know tons of kids in band. Band is the most respected and godly thing in the whole damn school. You can't mess with the band kids. Though my friends have said the football team is mean, they would never do anything to the school's proudest and biggest operation.

I'd say a 3rd place and 3rd place that was really a tie for 2nd proves that you've still got it on top of just the wonderful performance level you achieve! ;-)

@TheBananaFactory4 They had a fund raising campaign around 2000. The community, alumni, & family of Marian raised the money for it. It took 30 YEARS of outstanding reputation to EARN those instruments. It was a reward for decades of "roughing" it. It is also about priorities. They sleep on floors in gyms and they travel in school buses that breakdown not coach buses. They won all 7 or 6 of their National Titles BEFORE the fundraiser. They earned the new instruments, and they are Yamaha not Bach

@hamboj i dislike marion catholic only for the reason that they take everything in competition. but that is awesome that they are respected like that, i wish my school respected the band like that

This is not and never will be a drum corps, and that's ok, because high school band is not meant to be a drum corps, so having been in a top 12 drum corps and then sharing what I learned with many high school students, the ultimate high school band would be very intense, they would carry themselves in a way that commands respect especially in uniform, goofing around, and or slacking off during valuable rehearsal time would never be an option, those members would simply find themselves cut from the program, there is no room for just good enough at the top, to be competitive it takes discipline and sacrifice, the intensity level must be palpable, it takes a mature mindset, and an attitude that says I care.

Tracy, you really need to rethink what you really learned from the band experience. As an alum, nothing else in my life has made we work harder or learn more discipline. Of course we were different than the other kids, we would get called out by section leaders for not knowing parts, we had to endure hundreds of speeches from Mr. Bimm...but what job do you have today where that behavior doesn't exist? You have some serious sour grapes that probably doesn't serve you well in life either.

Their band is insane. They had a show about 911 and WWII with hitler over the speaker. My band works SOOO hard. And everyone says these guys are the best. This video also says they lack in everything. They have so much more people than us. They don't lack in numbers which is a HUGE component. They also can't be lacking in money that much considering you have to pay to be in marching band.... so... yeah.
@ZayAgka8 жыл бұрын
Haley Richer You underestimate the cost it takes to support a big band. My band has over 200 people and we can barely support it with the money we have. We have to rely on donations an band fees at the beginning of the year just to get us the money we need.
